Overwatch: The Official Cookbook will arrive in stores on October 1, 2019, but in the meantime, Screen Rant has an exclusive first look at the book's official cover alongside some a sample recipe that helps illustrate what the finished product will look like. Overwatch has been played by over 40 million unique players since its release a few years ago, and has become an internationally recognized esport since then, with a fully-funded league that has set a new benchmark for investor relations in the esports industry.

Overwatch has been at the center of a few controversies in its day, mostly centered around loot boxes and the countries who are working tirelessly to see them removed from games altogether, but for an esports title that's been around several years, developer Blizzard has managed to duck a lot of the drama that plagues other competitors. Part of that stems from the characters of Overwatch, who each have cultivated sub-fandoms around them that help support the community and continue to engage with the game even during its rougher moments. Overwatch characters are some of the most recognizable mascots in the gaming world today, and it's no surprise that Overwatch: The Official Cookbook is such a hot commodity heading into its launch.

Fans can immediately tell that the cookbook will offer a wide variety of cuisines, with fish & chips, ramen, stir-fry, and a pastry all front-and-center alongside a tankard that will also please dedicated players. Overwatch: The Official Cookbook has a good pedigree, too, with Monroe-Cassel a veteran of bringing popular fantasy properties to life with recipes, having written the World of Warcraft and Game of Thrones cookbooks as well. Here's what a sample spread might look like, centered around Mercy:

Overwatch: The Official Cookbook will release in just a few short months, with the potential for some teaser recipes getting unveiled in the interim. Even with just a sample and a cover, though, it's clear that the cookbook is remaining true to what fans would expect an Overwatch-inspired item to look like, with authenticity oozing out of the page, right down to the nods to what characters say and how icons look on the sample spread. With Overwatch showing no signs of slowing down this year, 2019 could finally see Mercy mains drinking tea themed after everyone's favorite angelic healer.
