Overlord Poster: World War II Isn't Just About The Living [EXCLUSIVE]

J.J. Abrams' mysterious WWII themed Overlord finally debuts in theaters this week and we have a very unique, exclusive poster to share. The story follows a group of American paratroopers attempting to save the day by dropping behind enemy lines into Nazi-occupied France on the eve of D-Day. Their mission? To destroy a fortified radio transmitter. But it's not just the living that these brave soldiers, and allies, must worry about. They're about to fight the unexpected as they discover a secret Nazi lab carrying out the most terrifying and bizarre supernatural experiments. Overlord premiered at Fantastic Fest to positive reviews and much praise for its characters - played by Jovan Adepo, Wyatt Russell, Pilou Asbæk, Mathilde Ollivier, John Magaro, Iain De Caestecker, and Dominic Applewhite - who must stand up against the undead.

Overlord was written by Billy Ray and Mark L. Smith and directed by Julius Avery. Early in development, some theorized that this project could be a part of J.J. Abrams' Cloverfield universe but that theory was quickly shot down as never being part of the plan.

Abrams' Bad Robot is the production company behind Overlord with Paramount Pictures distributing. It's produced by J.J. Abrams and Lindsey Weber with a score by Jed Kurzel, editing from Matt Evans, production design by Jon Henson, and cinematography by Laurie Rose and Fabian Wagner.

Official Overlord Plot Synopsis

With only hours until D-Day, a team of American paratroopers drop into Nazi-occupied France to carry out a mission that's crucial to the invasion's success. Tasked with destroying a radio transmitter atop a fortified church, the desperate soldiers join forces with a young French villager to penetrate the walls and take down the tower. But, in a mysterious Nazi lab beneath the church, the outnumbered G.I.s come face-to-face with enemies unlike any the world has ever seen.  From producer J.J. Abrams, Overlord is a thrilling, pulse-pounding action adventure with a twist.
