Watch the exclusive Overdrive clip featuring Scott Eastwood as Andrew Foster, who gets chased down by villain Panahi's (Moussa Maaskri) minions. Written by 2 Fast 2 Furious', Michael Brandt and Derek Haas, and directed by Antonio Negret (some episodes of CW's Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow), Overdrive follows two brothers who specialize in stealing luxury cars. When they're sent to France to steal a Bugatti, their plans go awry and the brothers get caught by the car owner who also happens to be a ruthless crime lord. In exchange for their lives, the crime lord then sends the brothers to steal a Ferrari from his arch-rival.
In the exclusive clip above, we see brothers Andrew and Garrett Foster walking down the street when Panahi's men begin shooting at them. The two brothers flee for their lives, deciding to split up to make it more difficult for the antagonists to catch them. The clip concludes with one of the brothers being chased down onto the main road.
Based on the exclusive clip and the trailers that have come before, Overdrive knows exactly what it is. This is meant to be nothing more than a fun action flick with a specific target audience in mind. While the Fast and Furious franchise has evolved into a ridiculously entertaining, well-made action franchise, the initial few entries into this franchise, including Brandt's and Haas' 2 Fast 2 Furious catered mostly to gearheads. Overdrive looks to be more or less the same.
You can check out the official synopsis below:
"From the writers of 2 Fast 2 Furious and the director of Taken [one of the producers of Overdrive], Overdrive is a high-octane, action-packed joyride. Legendary car thieves Andrew (Scott Eastwood) and Garrett (Freddie Thorp) are caught in the act of stealing from notorious crime boss Jacomo Morier. In order to win back their freedom they're put to the ultimate test – the theft of a priceless car from Morier’s sworn enemy. While putting together a crew to pull off the daring heist they're joined by two beautiful women (Ana de Armas & Gaia Weiss) who are more dangerous than they look. The team has one week to put the plan in motion, steal the car, and make their escape or lose everything, including their lives."
Overdrive will be in Theaters and On Demand and Digital on October 6.
