Coming off an impressive demo (i.e. beta) which saw more than 2 million players in one week join the fray, developer People Can Fly's new looter-shooter Outriders is shaping up to be one of the biggest games set to be released in the first half of 2021. In fact, people enjoyed the demo so much People Can Fly actually had to make adjustments to it after players were rapidly farming legendary weapons which would carry over into the full game.

Their interest peaked by the demo, players have begun to wonder what the finished Outriders experience will be like, including what to expect from the game's endgame content. Thankfully, People Can Fly has already outlined plenty of details for what fans can expect to be doing post-campaign in the full game.

It certainly sounds like Outriders will be taking lessons from other looter-shooters of the past, while also saving a few tricks up its sleeve for the game's most dedicated players. But will that be enough to keep players coming back for more? Here's what People Can Fly have said about what the Outriders endgame will be like.

What To Expect From Outriders Endgame Content

Outriders Legendary Loot Changes Demo Update

For starters, People Can Fly have said the core campaign of Outriders will last around 40 hours. That's a beefy amount of content for players to blast their way through, especially compared to other looter-shooter titles like Destiny or The Division. Perhaps the lengthier campaign comes from the fact that People Can Fly insist Outriders isn't a "live service" game, as most loot-based games seem to inevitably be. Instead, Outriders will be filled with content from the beginning, although People Can Fly say they will support the game into the future.

The main hook of Outriders' endgame content are missions called Expeditions. These are brand-new, challenging post-game missions which unlock once players finish the main story. There will be 14 of these Expeditions in Outriders to start, with a mysterious 15th mission called "The Eye of the Storm" unlocking after completing the previous 14. People Can Fly insist these missions are brand-new content and not recycled missions from the campaign.

The catch is that loot doesn't drop over the course of playing Outriders' Expeditions, only at the very end once the mission is complete. It's similar to endgame systems in Diablo 3 or even more recent World of Warcraft expansions. The quicker players complete the Expedition, the more loot they will be rewarded with at the end.

Players can level up to level 30 in Outriders endgame, but their gear can be leveled up to 50. Players will use resources to upgrade equipment, and there is a mod system which can grant powers and effects similar to various class skills, though without any kind of class restriction. To get better loot, players can level up the game's world. The higher Outriders' world tier, the more challenging the enemies (and the better the loot). It's a system that, once again, seems to draw inspiration from other loot-based games like Diablo 3 or The Division.

By taking successful elements of other loot-based games but putting its own spin on the genre, Outriders is shaping up to be a game to keep an eye on. Will the game's lengthy campaign and endgame missions be enough to keep players hooked? Players won't have to wait long to find out.
