The reveal stream for the game Outriders will air on Thursday, February 13th at 12:00pm Pacific Time. The game is a co-operative RPG shooter set in a sci-fi universe. Outriders is currently set to release on PC, PlayStation 5, and the Xbox Series X during the holidays of 2020, as well as the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Outriders is being developed by the studio People Can Fly, which is one of the biggest AAA video game studios in Poland and is probably best known for its work on Gears of War: Judgement. The company has made its mark on the shooter genre with the unique and incredibly violent Bulletstorm. While the game did not perform incredibly well, Bulletstorm has developed a cult following over the years and earned People Can Fly several accolades. The game even went on to be remade in 2017, and performed much better in terms of sales.
The reveal stream for the new game will feature Outriders Game Director Bartek Kmita, Lead Writer Joshua Rubin, and host Malik Forte, and will go live on February 13th at 12:00pm PT. Viewers can watch the Outriders stream live on Twitch. According to a press release, Kmita is very excited to be working on something new to show off to fans. After the company's split from Epic Games in 2015, it has not put any new games except for the remastered edition of Bulletstorm in 2017. Kmita says, "Outriders is our first game since leaving Epic Games, and has grown from an idea of the game we always wanted to make, to the most ambitious project People Can Fly has ever undertaken."
According to the game developers, Outriders will take place on the planet Enoch, and players will be tasked with creating their own character to explore the hostile planet. From there they must set out on an adventure to locate a mysterious signal while using a large arsenal of weaponry and gear. The various forms of environment players will be exploring in the world of Outriders include cities, forests, mountains, and deserts.
People Can Fly has set itself apart from other companies by making their shooters quirky and crass while still remaining entertaining. The violence of Bulletstorm was always over the top and ridiculous in a way that couldn't help but leave players feeling charmed. While Gears of War: Judgement wasn't a huge success players could still feel People Can Fly's trademark tight shooting and wit inside of the game. Outriders, on the other hand seems like it will be a much more serious affair, but given People Can Fly's past pedigree it could very well be the next big thing in the shooter genre, and interested players should tune in on February 13th to see just what the game has in store.
