Claire and Jamie have had plenty of adventures in the five seasons of Outlander that have aired so far. During their adventures, they've interacted with both cruel and kind people. These interactions have led to some of the show's iconic moments; some sad, some joyful, and some downright shocking.

It's hard for viewers to forget Laoghaire shooting Jamie, Roger showing up on a horse to reunite with Brianna, or Stephen Bonnet turning against friends in order to steal a boat. But, in as much as these are honorable mentions, there are some more iconic moments that sit more comfortably in the hearts and minds of fans.

Claire Goes To The 18th Century For The First Time

This is the incident that paves the way for all the major plots in the series. In the pilot episode, Claire decides to back to Craigh na Dun to pick a plant she had spotted during her earlier visit with Frank. There, she picks specimens before she decides to go and touch the stone because they look beautiful.

Her actions cause her to be transported to the 18th century. She is unaware of it at first, so she frantically looks for her car. It's missing. She then hears gunshots and sees Redcoats running. She thinks a production company is filming a movie only for the Redcoats to shoot at her. At that point, she realizes everything isn't as it seems.

Jamie And Claire's Island Reunion

Claire has a Robinson Crusoe period when she finds herself alone on an island after being washed on the beach. Earlier on, she had jumped from a British navy ship after being kidnapped and made to treat Typhoid patients. On the island, she encounters many challenges, including getting bitten by strange insects.

Finally, Jamie spots her while sailing a few miles away and rushes to save her. Two lovers running a few miles so that they can jump at each other and hug and kiss? It's been done many times before, but it's still beautiful.

Black Jack Randall Rapes Jamie

Jamie suffers a lot under the hands of Black Jack Randall, going so far as to rape him. In the finale of the first season, Claire sneaks to prison to visit Jamie, but Black Jack catches her.

He implies that he is willing to release Claire if Jamie offers himself sexually. Jamie agrees, and Randall proceeds to rape him as he screams in pain. While performing the heinous acts, the villain utters bizarre statements such as, "Jamie, I just want this to be a pleasant experience for us both." It's a traumatizing moment that's impossible to forget.

The Witch Trial

When Claire goes to warn Geillis about a possible trial for her husband's death, she is arrested with her. This is all thanks to evil Laoghaire's actions. The two are then tried for witchcraft.

The trial is a speedy one. Stakes get erected, and a crowd stands by to see justice being served. Luckily, Jamie shows up in time, swords blazing, as Claire is being dragged to the execution station. He rescues her, and, when they are in a safe place, she finally tells him the whole story about her future life in the 20th century.

Brianna Finally Meets Jamie

It's a beautiful moment when 'daughter' finally meets 'father.' Brianna spots her father in the past, and he happens to be peeing on a wall. He asks her what she wants, and she says she wants him. Thinking it's a random woman trying to hit on him, he tells her that he is a married man.

As he is walking away, Brianna lets him know that she is his daughter. He doesn't believe it at first. Then it sinks in, and he realizes it's true. The two almost cry as they hug and stare at each other.

Battle Of Culloden - Outlander

The Battle Of Culloden is intense, but the swinging of swords isn't the best part about it. The wild fight between Jamie and his archenemy Black Jack Randall is good, too, but it still isn't the best part of the battle. After Jamie survives, he is forced to play dead in order to ensure he survives the ordeal.

Jamie is forced to lie on the ground and do nothing as the Jacobite soldiers are lined up for execution. It's a tense moment as viewers cross their fingers and hope he'll come out alive at the end of it all.

Jamie Sends Claire Back To The Future

A day before the epic Battle Of Culloden, Jamie sends Claire back to the future so that she and the daughter they are expecting can be safe, It's a heartbreaking moment, both for the couple and for viewers, who, up until that point, have become used to seeing the two lovebirds together.

Claire is more devastated about having to leave Jamie because she has a feeling he will die in battle. Luckily, he doesn't. She later comes back looking for him when she learns he is alive.

Claire and Frank's marriage crumbles because she can't forget Jamie. She is also heavily focused on her work. Frank sticks around so as to be close to Brianna, but he eventually decides he wants to marry his newest lover. He also plans to move to Cambridge University and take Brianna with him, even though she isn't his biological child.

The once loving couple has a final argument before Frank grabs his car keys and leaves. Later, Claire is informed that Frank was involved in a road accident and didn't survive. Kissing his corpse, Clays pours her heart out: "If you’re still close enough to hear me, I still love you very much. You were my first love.”

During his stay at the Dunsany family estate, Jamie sires Willie. He isn't able to claim the boy as his own, but he is lucky enough to watch him grow.

As Willie grows, he begins to resemble Jamie more and more. Fearing that people will discover it's his own child, he decides to leave. Lord John Grey promises he will take care of him, so Jamie has nothing to worry about. It's an emotional moment as he rides away and Willie watches him leave.

The Death Of Baby Faith

Claire never bought into the idea of Jamie dueling Black Jack Randall, but it went on anyway. During the fight, Claire can't help but stay nervous. She eventually collapses and ends up in the hospital. Sadly, her baby, Faith, is stillborn, and the ordeal nearly claims Claire's life, as well.

Claire blames Jamie for the unfortunate turn of events, and, in a way, she is right. If it wasn't for him insisting to fight, everything would have turned out fine.
