Which woman cannot help but love Jamie Fraser? Is is the hunk who has stepped straight out from a Mills and Boons novel, dashing in his kilt... tender-hearted... and stubble-faced. The talented actor behind the determined hunk is Sam Heughan, who attracts female viewers to the screen time and time again for this binge-worthy series.

Still, there are things about the character of Jamie Fraser which might seem just a little over-the-top, like the way he smiles when he sleeps, or the way he always takes beatings on behalf of others. Here are 10 completely cringeworthy things about Jamie Fraser (which fans might notice, but decide to ignore, because they love him so much).

Drippy Love

Sam Heughan as Jamie

Every woman longs for a man who is devoted to her, but at times Jamie Fraser is slightly cringeworthy in his devotion to Claire. Even their relationship isn't one's conventional love saga. One of the reasons Jamie swooped in to marry Claire was to protect her, when she was pursued by the English Redcoats. Jamie's heart-gushing sentiments make female viewers swoon, however, at times these are fairly over-the-top and slightly cringeworthy (still one wouldn't hold this against the becoming Jamie Fraser).

'Take Me Instead'

Okay, so Jamie didn't quite say that line, however, he did offer to take Roger's place when a tribe of Native Americans refused to let him go. It's not that viewers want to cringe, but does Jamie ever do anything wrong?

True, he was kind of responsible for Roger's capture, but in his defense, he was willing to give it all to reunite Roger with Brianna.

The 'Scar'y Truth

Jamie has many scars on his back, and viewers might find themselves wondering about these when the hunk shows off his well-toned torso, giving audiences a glimpse of the scars. The truth behind the scars is that Jamie was flogged while protecting Jenny, his sister. These dramatic interventions from Jamie are impressive, but at times a little cringeworthy.

Beaten Again

Jamie and Roger

Jamie Fraser has a good heart - one of the reasons viewers love him so much. However, he does get beaten up quite a lot, and many times, is taking others' punishment for them. In another selfless act, Jamie took Laoghaire's punishment, enduring her punishment for loose behavior.

He Falls Hard and Fast

The speed at which Jamie falls for Claire gets viewers' attention. In fact, he tells her, 'I wanted you from the first moment I saw you'. Such beautiful sentiments flow from his lips, but at times, once out of the moment, viewers might reflect on how these are also full of cringe. Needless to say, this is what makes the series so binge-worthy.

Thick-Skinned?

Remember how Jamie meets Claire after she travels through time to 18th-century Scotland? She is at that stage still married to Frank, whom she is wedded to in 1946, at the time of her time traveling rendezvous.

When Claire reveals this to Jamie, he takes it really well. Too well? But of course, he is a man in love.

Gullible?

The truth is that Claire did travel back in time, and this has made it possible for her to be with sweetheart Jamie Fraser. The problem is how quickly Jamie accepts Claire has time traveled.

Yes, she did time travel, but if Jamie accepts this so easily, what else is he willing to accept, without questioning? Surely, Claire's explanation of her time travelling to meet him should have been a harder pill for him to swallow?

Puffy Sleeves

Every woman longs to be swooned by a hunk in a dashing kilt and puffy sleeves. However, there are moments when the unlikelihood of someone as dashing as Jamie Fraser and as noble-hearted as him, even exists. Not to mention the kilt and puffy-sleeved tops. Yes, it makes lady viewers cringe, but cringe in a good way.

A Quote A Minute

Jamie Fraser is full of swoon-worthy quotes. One could find a quote worthy of a Charlotte Bronte novel, coming from his mouth in each episode of the series. How about 'Don't be afraid. There's the two of us now...', or the line Jamie uses explaining to Claire how he wanted her from the first time he saw her. Such quotes make female hearts leap - but are cringeworthy at the same time.

Smiling While He Sleeps

The way Jamie sometimes smiles while he sleeps is a little disconcerting and just slightly cringeworthy. While viewers would like to think of this as adorable, since this is what Jamie is, it is in reality cute when a baby or puppy shows happiness while they sleep. For a grown man to smile while he sleeps might now be endearing as such. Perhaps if he furrowed his brow while he slept, this would be much more becoming. Still, viewers love Jamie Fraser anyway!
