Viewers have been entranced for five seasons by the time-crossed lovers, Claire and Jamie Fraser, who find their way back to each other even over the course of two hundred years.  However, they aren't the only pairing that have fans on the edge of their seats as new romances also arose through the seasons, making hearts flutter with tender, romantic, and even tear-jerking scenes that proved just how strong love can be.

When Claire Found Jamie In The Print Shop

Claire and Jamie reunite and kiss

The build-up to Claire and Jamie's season 3 reunion was riveting, with audiences unsure of if or how Claire would find her way back to her 18th-century highlander. In the episode "A. Malcolm," the wait was finally over, and hearts stopped as Claire nervously told Jamie that it wasn't, in fact, Geordie that had come through the print shop doors. After traveling two hundred years, across an ocean, and several miles, Claire was reunited with her true love, and the energy was palpable in the scene.

When Marsali Accepted Fergus And His Past

Marsali and Fergus were two people that were determined to be together, even amid Jamie's fervent protest. Jamie argued that Marsali didn't know about Fergus's womanizing past, and urged him to come clean to her before they could be formally married. Surprisingly, he did, and Marsali didn't bat an eye, saying "I'm not so naive to think he hasna been with lasses. But, now we only want to be with each other," proving that they truly accepted each other, no matter what.

When Roger Came Back For Brianna

No one can argue that chasing someone across two hundred years is romantic, and that's exactly what Roger did for Brianna. Although they were broken up, Roger wasted no time in following Brianna because he couldn't bear the thought of her putting herself in danger.

Although Bree was several days ahead of Roger, it didn't stop him from tracking her down to Wilmington, where they happily reunited. Even though this reunion ended with the two fighting, Roger still didn't give up on their relationship and managed to find his way back to his love.

When Ian Shares The Story Of Him And Jenny

The show doesn't delve too deeply into Jenny and Ian's relationship, but viewers know that Ian was there for the hard moments in Jenny's life, just as she was there when Ian came home injured from the war. Ian tells Claire that Jenny "made him whole" and says he had no choice but to marry her, sharing that she proposed the idea as he was "covered in muck, and her standing there like a bush covered with butterflies."

When Jamie Saves Claire From The Witch Trial

All hope seemed lost as Claire suffered imprisonment and beatings at the hands of the townspeople while being tried as a witch, but viewers breathed a sigh of relief when Jamie burst through the doors of the courthouse, two swords in hand, and fiercely stated that they all would have to go through him if they wanted to get to Claire. Not only that, but after successfully rescuing her and learning that she traveled through time, Jamie believes her immediately, and vows to trust anything she tells him.

When Roger Swears To Protect Brianna & Jemmy

After tying the knot in the season 5 premiere, Brianna and Roger are seen to be quite happy with their new family unit. However, Roger's mood is almost spoiled when Jocasta requests to meet him and tells him that she will be leaving her property to Jemmy. As Roger questions why, he is then infuriated by the implication that she does not believe he can love Jemmy unless there is something in it for him.

Disgusted, he rejects Jocasta's offer, stating that they don't need her money and that he will give all his time to Brianna and Jemmy. He later makes a proclamation to Brianna that Jemmy is "blood of my blood. Bone of my bone. I claim thee as my son before all men, from this day, forever."

When Marsali Tells Fergus That They're A Team

Unsure of himself, Fergus tells Marsali of his plan to free Murtagh from jail, and she instantly assures him that he can do anything he sets his mind to. Furthermore, she says they'll do it together. The headstrong Scotswoman cites her wedding vows to him and tells Fergus that she would face the devil himself with him. The two share a kiss, knowing that they can count on each other through anything.

When Claire Stays Back With Jamie

Claire and Jamie embrace and kiss.

It's romantic enough that Jamie led Claire back to the stones, willing to give her up if she chose to go back to Frank and her own time. But, when Claire finds herself unable to pull the trigger and leave (which is a good thing, viewers eventually learn, because she didn't have the tools necessary for time travel), she makes her way back down the hill to the fire where Jamie is staying to ensure her safety. No one had a dry eye, including Jamie, as she gently woke him and told him to take her "home to Lallybroch."

When Marsali Wants Time To Be With Fergus

In the 18th century, there was a belief that a wife's role was to bear children for their husbands. Birth control, of any sort, was not widely known about or used, so there was plenty of unexpected pregnancies.

That's why it was surprising and romantic, when Marsali asks Claire's advice on birth control, expressing that she wants to spend and cherish time alone with Fergus as man and wife, without having to worry about raising a child right away and getting to know each other as partners.

When Jamie And Claire Wash Ashore After The Shipwreck

During the season 3 finale, "Eye of the Storm," Claire sank into the ocean, unconscious and tangled in the rope of a sail. The image of Jamie lunging into the water to save her, knife in hand, was enough to send hearts flying. He gave her a kiss before swimming the two of them to the surface, right in the eye of the storm.

Jamie mutters, "Damn you, Sassenach. If you die here now, I swear I'll kill ya." He eventually finds himself on dry land and crawls his way over to Claire. When she awakes, he tells her he thought she was dead, and she states that she told him she'd never leave him again.
