Jonah Hill signs on to direct Keanu Reeves in the new movie Outcome. Action star Reeves is about to unleash hitman mayhem again in the highly-anticipated sequel John Wick: Chapter 4. The new movie indeed just released its first trailer, previewing Reeves’ latest excursion as the unstoppable assassin engaged in endless warfare against the mysterious High Table and their inexhaustible supply of killers.

But of course the ever-busy Reeves has plenty of other projects lined up beyond John Wick: Chapter 4 as well. The list includes the John Wick spinoff Ballerina starring Ana De Armas, the long-awaited sequel Constantine 2 and the comic book adaptation BRZRKR. And now Reeves has added another project to his future slate, and this time he’ll be teaming with director Hill. As reported by Deadline, the Reeves/Hill pair has lined up Outcome, based on a script Hill co-wrote with Ezra Woods. Plot details are being kept under wraps for the time being.

This Isn't Jonah Hill's First Time Directing

Olan Prenatt, Sunny Suljic, Na-kel Smith, and Ryder McLaughlin in Mid90s

Hill first rose to fame as an actor thanks to movies like Knocked Up, Superbad, Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Moneyball. He then got an Oscar nomination for his memorable performance in Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street. Hill next began expanding his resume, serving as producer and receiving a story credit on 21 Jump Street and its sequel 22 Jump Street.

Then in 2018 Hill took the next logical step by directing his first feature film, the autobiographical comedy Mid90s. A modest box office success with $9.3 million grossed on a budget of $1.7 million, the movie was a hit with critics and currently boasts an 80% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Having established himself with that first strong outing, Hill did not immediately follow up with a second directorial effort. But now he does have a second directing credit to his name thanks to the documentary Stutz, which chronicles the life of Hill’s therapist Dr. Phil Stutz. Hill also made headlines earlier in 2022 when he announced he would not be promoting any of his future films due to anxiety attacks.

Details are unfortunately so scant on Hill’s newly-revealed third directorial effort that it’s hard to guess what turn his filmography is set to take next. Reeves’ involvement naturally leads to assumptions that the film will have some kind of action element. But though Hill has appeared in films with action, he is mainly thought of as a comedy actor and his directorial effort Mid90s was certainly not an action movie. Perhaps some hint about Outcome can be gleaned from its title, which seems to hint that therapy will again be a theme. No matter what Outcome has to offer, it will be interesting to see what the team of Reeves and Hill cook up, given the very different places they seem to be coming from as film figures.
