At long last, Hulu has revealed the season 3 premiere date for Seth MacFarlane's sci-fi comedy The OrvilleThe futuristic series, created by and starring MacFarlane, follows the U.S.S. Orville crew as they explore spaces on various intergalactic missions, and navigate their complicated relationships along the way. The Orville premiered in 2017 on Fox, while the second season of the show premiered its finale back in 2019.

Now, Hulu finally released a short teaser trailer to reveal the long-anticipated return, since the show moved from Fox to the streaming service. Now dubbed The Orville: New Horizons, the show is set to premiere on March 10, 2022. Hulu plans to drop episodes weekly rather than dumping the entire third season at one time, so binge-watching won't be an option for fans eager to watch the premiere.

Despite the gap and name change, the same space-bound weirdos are expected to return to take on missions for the Planetary Union. Alongside MacFarlane, the main Orville cast includes Adrianne Palicki, Penny Johnson Jerald, Scott Grimes, Peter Macon, Halston Sage, J. Lee, Mark Jackson and Jessica Szohr.

The Orville has had its fair share of setbacks. The first season of the Star Trek parody show received generally negative reviews upon release. However, it found its footing in season 2 and secured a steady fanbase who appreciated the more cohesive storytelling and off-beat comedy. Then, the show moved from Fox to Hulu, with production for season 3 set to begin in late 2019. But, as with many series, the COVID-19 pandemic led to several setbacks that caused the show to premiere much later. Now, The Orville is ready to make its triumphant return, and reacquaint fans with the lovable galaxy explorers.
