How many werewolf hides are in The Order and which characters are they bonded with? The Netflix original series centers on two secret societies and their conflicts with both each other and other factions. One of the two central groups is the titular Hermetic Order of the Blue Rose, a massive organization of sorcerers who operate on the campus of Bellgrave University. In season 1, the Order became embroiled in a battle with werewolves.

The werewolves make up a group called the Knights of Saint Christopher, whose primary mission is to oppose the Order. Originally, the Knights were a part of the Order, but over time they broke away and became enemies. In season 1, it was explained that the Knights have taken it upon themselves to protect the Vade Maecum, the Order’s most powerful spellbook, as it was believed that the sorcerers within the Order would abuse its power. The Knights are a small but incredibly dangerous organization. For a while, most members of the Order were unaware of their existence, but they reemerged early in season 1. By the middle of season 2, they were reintegrated into the Order, under the direction of the Order’s current Grand Magus, Vera (Katherine Isabelle).

In the lore established in The Order, humans are chosen by Werewolf Hides, who are sentient beings with their own individual identities, personalities, goals, and backstories. Once the Hide selects a human host and merges with his or her body, that person develops a strong sensitivity to magic and the ability to transform into a werewolf at will. Each Hide has bonded with at least one character at some point in the series. So far, the existence of six Werewolf Hides have been confirmed, but more could be revealed as the series moves forward. Here’s every known Werewolf Hide, and which character that Hide is worn by in The Order.

Silverback (Jack Morton)

The Order Jack

Jack Morton (Jake Manley), the main protagonist of The Order, tried to infiltrate the Hermetic Order of the Blue Rose on a crusade to kill his father, Edward Coventry (Max Martini). A wrench was thrown in Jack’s plans when he was jumped on by a Werewolf Hide and chosen to be its host. The Hide was revealed to be Silverback, the strongest of all the werewolves in The Order. Silverback is seen as a heroic and noble figure to the Knights of Saint Christopher, and for this reason the other werewolves begin to take Jack seriously, knowing that a Hide as powerful as Silverback wouldn’t have picked an unworthy champion. Everyone in the Knights of Saint Chirstopher were shocked when Silverback selected Jack because he had been dormant for over 50 years, unwilling to bond with a human all this time. Toward the end of season 1, Jack nearly died, and Silverback had to be forcibly removed from his body with a spell. Jack reunited with Silverback in the middle of season 2.

Timber (Lilith Bathory)

The Order Lilith

Lilith (Devery Jacobs), the only female member of the Knights of Saint Christopher, is a former member of the Order. She joined the Knights after Alyssa Drake (Sarah Grey) erased her memories of being in the Order. She is now the host of Timber, a Werewolf Hide described early in season 1 as “the loner” of a group. Timber’s last host was Cassie, the ex-girlfriend of Hamish (Thomas Elms). Cassie died before the series began.

Tundra (Hamish Duke)

The Order Hamish

Hamish is the current leader of the Knights of Saint Christopher and by the end of season 2, a valued member of the Order who Vera has grown to trust. Hamish is bonded with the “cunning” Tundra, but not much is known about his history. Since most Hides tend to be drawn toward people who reflect their goals or ideas, it’s possible that Tundra likes being bonded with leaders.

Graybeard (Randall Carpio)

The Order Randall

Graybeard has been called the most fearless of all six Werewolf Hides. He is bonded with Randall (Adam DiMarco). It was said that Randall was inducted into the Knights after he impressed them with a heroic act. It’s not clear what Randall’s future with the Knights will be once they discover that he murdered Kepler (Francoise Yip) to save Lilith from the Demon Realm in The Order season 2 finale. It could be that an internal conflict with Randall and Graybeard will begin in season 3, especially if the Hide doesn’t approve of Randall’s actions.

Midnight (Gabrielle Dupree)

The Order Gabrielle

Midnight is the most aggressive Werewolf Hide. Despite his questionable moral compass when it comes to killing, Midnight is committed to the cause of the Knights of Saint Christopher, and is particularly unhappy when Jack and Hamish work to reestablish ties between the Knights and the Order in season 2. Midnight was temporarily bonded with Kyle (Jedidiah Goodacre), when the Knights needed a scapegoat to keep the Order off their backs. The Order fell for the trick, resulting in Kyle’s death at the hands of Gabrielle (Louriza Tronco). At the end of season 1, Jack bonded with Midnight to replace Silverback. With Midnight as his new Hide, Jack and his friends succeeded in defeating Edward.

In the beginning of season 2, Midnight’s rage over what the Order had done combined with Jack’s own anger to give him a deeper feeling of hatred toward Alyssa and the Order. Things changed for Jack when he decided to retrieve the Knights’ stolen possessions from the Order. Jack stumbled across the Hide of Silverback, who reclaimed Jack’s body. This caused a big problem for Jack, as no human is meant to be bonded with two werewolves at the same time. A fight between Midnight and Silverback ensued in Jack’s mind, and it went on until Jack was finally able to choose between them. Jack ultimately went with Silverback, and Midnight went without a champion until late in the season when it latched onto Gabrielle. After convincing Gabrielle to surrender control of her body to him, Midnight murdered Alyssa, which is sure to drive a deeper wedge between him and Silverback in The Order season 3.

Alpha

The Order Alpha

Alpha was mentioned in The Order season 1 as a Werewolf Hide whose whereabouts were unknown to the Knights. Decades ago, he was bonded with a Knight named Grafton Davis. In season 2, it was revealed that Alpha bonded with their enemy, Salvador (Diane Bang). Apparently, the Praxis leader was the daughter of Davis. Salvador was shot by Vera, so Alpha no longer has a host. Alyssa took Alpha’s body, so Praxis could be in control of who bonds him with next.
