The third season premiere of Jenji Kohan's fantastic Netflix series Orange is the New Black is a couple months away, so it's pretty much the perfect time to whip up anticipation with a good old fashioned teaser. So if you're a fan of the comedy-drama prison show, you'll probably be overjoyed to hear that a two minute trailer has dropped with a surplus of moments hinting at what's new in Litchfield.
Of course, this is jail, so the more things change the more they stay the same: Piper and the gang return (sans Jason Biggs), and naturally they're still behind bars. But they're getting a few additions to their number, notably Stella (Australian model and actress Ruby Rose), who appears in a blink-and-you'll-miss-it beat in the clip - but will likely provide a substantial source of conflict for Piper (Taylor Schilling) and Alex (Laura Prepon).
If you need a recap, remember that Piper had Polly (Maria Dizzia, While We're Young) tattle on Alex's probation officer following the latter's courtroom back-stab; the gesture has landed Alex back in the slammer but out of the reach of their former employer, Kubra (Eyas Younis). So Alex's feelings toward Piper may be decidedly mixed when they cross paths again - and while Stella's exact role in the narrative isn't clear, it's not outlandish to assume that she'll be the third party in a love triangle between them.
But there's a lot more going on here, more than what specifically relates to Alex and Piper: Crazy Eyes' pornographic love story; Red serving as a font of dryly amusing wisdom; the return of Lori Petty (having a dust-up with Prepon); a Nicky flashback; and, above all else, Big Boo's amazing (terrifying) new 'do. Basically, if you wind up watching this trailer on repeat loops, nobody will blame you.
Orange is the New Black season three will be available on Netflix starting June 12th, 2015.
