While everyone loves a good reality show, game show, or late night talk show, there's a lot to be said for what the host does to keep viewers watching and make the series even more entertaining. Television hosts can certainly make or break a show.

From Alex Trebek to Jeff Probst, there are some familiar faces everyone knows; even if they don't actually watch the series they're the host of. It's time to celebrate, and be in awe, of the longest running television hosts out there. All of these hosts have given most of their lives to entertaining fans on television.

Tyra Banks - 16+ Years

Tyra Banks is most well-known as a model and a television host, so it's a no brainer that she was a judge and host for the hit reality competition series, America's Next Top Modelfrom 2003-2015. However, Banks also had her own talk show from 2005-2010 - right in the middle of this series.

On top of that, Tyra Banks joined America's Got Talent as the host from 2017-2018, and then offered her skills to Dancing With The Stars in 2020. That gives this talented woman about 16 years being a host in the spotlight of reality competition shows.

Gordon Ramsay - 16+ Years

There's nothing more unique on this list than a cooking show - and everyone associates this type of competition with Gordon Ramsay. He started off in 2004, with Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares and Hell's Kitchen UK.

The next year, he embarked on Hell's Kitchen US, and has exploded into other shows, including MasterChef US and Hotel Hell. It's hard to keep track of all his accomplishments and entertaining shows as a host, but he has over 16 years under his belt.

Jimmy Kimmel - 18+ Years

Jimmy Kimmel Live! is the longest running talk show on the ABC network. Kimmel took to the stage back in 2003, and he's been a lead choice for all talk show lovers since then. He's still going strong, so there's likely many more years to come.

Jimmy Kimmel has all kinds of guest appearances and segments, and it's no surprise that fans just can't get enough. He's already made history, so he might as well continue to make some more.

Ellen DeGeneres - 18+ Years

Ellen DeGeneres also started her hit talk show back in 2003. The Ellen DeGeneres Show is near the top of everyone's lists when it comes to favorite day time shows - and this talented and ambitious celebrity has extended into game shows and more.

From the best guests to everyday people, to fun activities and performances, this show has been entertaining fans for nearly two decades, and there's definitely more to come. She deserves to be one of the longest-running hosts.

Phil Keoghan - 19+ Years

Where there's reality shows that are also competition series, Phil Keoghan and Jeff Probst might just be two of the most popular names. Phil Keoghan has been hosting The Amazing Race since it premiered back in 2001.

Since then, so many teams have raced around the world - with Keoghan in tow. It's hard to imagine this race with another host, and that's likely because he's been crushing the role for nearly two decades. Plus, he's not done yet.

Jeff Probst - 20+ Years

Survivor is one of the most riveting and long-running reality competition shows out there. Die-hard fans can't wait for another set of players to hit the beach, but one of their favorite things about this show is certainly Jeff Probst.

He's been the host (and producer) since the show premiered in 2000. He's still going strong, and after two decades, fans really can't imagine this hit series without Probst being the one to snuff out the castaway's torches.

Oprah Winfrey - 25 Years

Although Oprah Winfrey's talk show ended back in 2011, she's still one of the most famous and well-known talk show hosts out there today. Her talk show aired from 1986 to 2011, and she called it quits after a wonderful 25 years.

Larry King - 32 Years

Larry King has been hosting and appearing on television shows for decades, but he had two of his own shows: Larry King Live and Politicking with Larry King. The first ran for 25 years, from 1985 to 2010. After a little break, he jumped back at it with the latter from 2013-2020.

This iconic host passed away in January of 2021, but certainly not without leaving a legacy of entertainment and ingenuity behind him. This talk show host paved the way for so many others - and he had a long, long run.

Bob Barker - 35 Years

There really is no game show as big as The Price is Rightand it wouldn't nearly be the same if Bob Barker hadn't hosted it for 35 years. That's an incredibly long time to host a game show, but fans kept watching every single season.

While Drew Carey took over after Barker's retirement, this game show is actually the longest-running in America's history. Of course, Bob Barker gave a huge chuck of his life to entertainment on CBS, and fans will always remember him for it.

Alex Trebek - 37 Years

Alex Trebek will always be the best game show host in everyone's hearts, and it's without question he deserves some massive recognition. This kind and intelligent soul also takes the gold medal for longest-running television host - with a whopping 37 years.

From 1984 to when the last episode with this legend premiered in 2021, Trebek was at the forefront of Jeopardy!There isn't a more familiar face when it comes to hosts, and dare any fan say - a better one.
