David Dastmalchian is the latest join the ensemble cast of Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer. Oppenheimer is Nolan’s biopic about one of the fathers of the Atomic bomb. J. Robert Oppenheimer was the theoretical physicist who ran the Manhattan Project, subsequently developing the first nuclear weapons that were deployed in the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki during WWII. Reuniting with Nolan marks a special moment for Dastmalchian, who is coming off of the biggest year in his career, with a breakout role in The Suicide Squad as Polka-Dot Man and the unsettling Piter De Vries in Dune. Dastmalchian worked as a telemarketer when Nolan cast him as Thomas Schiff in The Dark Knight 15 years ago.

Dastmalchian is the latest big name to join Nolan’s top-tier cast for Oppenheimer, which started production earlier this week in New Mexico, reports THR's Heat Vision Letter. Peaky Blinders star, Cillian Murphy, is playing the title character in Oppenheimer, while Emily Blunt is playing Murphy's onscreen wife, the communist botanist Katherine Oppenheimer. Also onboard are Robert Downey Jr. as Chair of the United States Atomic Energy Commission, Lewis Strauss, and Matt Damon as Leslie Groves, the Manhattan Project's director, along with many more big stars.
