New behind-the-scenes images tease that Mabel Mora (Selena Gomez) might be getting married in Only Murders in the Building season 3. Following the introduction and murder of Paul Rudd's character Ben Glenroy in the season 2 finale, the mystery comedy-drama series has been generating excitement for season 3 on social media, particularly with a behind-the-scenes video announcing that Meryl Streep has joined the cast. So far, most plot details for Only Murders in the Building season 3 are being kept under wraps.Images shared by Steve Martin on Twitter and Selena Gomez on Instagram are generating further excitement for Only Murders in the Building's return by showing Mabel in a white wedding dress.
The first image that Martin shared is a callback to his popular role in the 1991 comedy film Father of the Bride. His other image shows co-star Martin Short posing beside the bride-to-be. The image on Gomez's Instagram shows her drinking a soda and enjoying wearing the wedding dress on set.
Who Is Mabel Getting Married To?
These behind-the-scenes images add to Only Murders in the Building's lingering questions, specifically regarding why Mabel is wearing a wedding dress and who she could be marrying. Mabel may be marrying one of her former love interests, including Alice Banks (Cara Delevingne) or Oscar Torres (Aaron Dominguez). While possible, it would be surprising considering that Mabel told Alice at the end of Only Murders in the Building season 2 that they would not get back together, along with the fact that Mabel had moved on from Oscar as well. Neither Delevingne nor Dominguez have been confirmed to be reprising their roles for season 3 either.
Another established character connected to the wedding may be Ben, the character murdered in the season 2 finale. Following Only Murders in the Building's one-year time jump and shortly before Ben died, Charles-Haden Savage told him, "Stay away from her," and "I know what you did." If Mabel was the one being referenced in this conversation, perhaps Ben was involved in somehow ruining her wedding, which would have taken place during the year before Ben's death.
There is also the possibility that Mabel is not getting married or is only pretending to get married. Things are often not what they seem to be in Only Murders in the Building. Wearing the wedding dress may just be a way to help Mabel discover an important clue in solving Ben's murder alongside Charles and Oliver Putnam. Between these wedding dress pictures and the likes of Rudd and Streep joining the Only Murders in the Building cast, season 3 continues to become more intriguing.
