President of ABC Entertainment and Hulu Originals Craig Erwich has shared his praise for Only Murders in the Building season 2, revealing that he has read several scripts for it. Only Murders in the Building was released on Hulu last year with the comedy series having gone on to receive overwhelming acclaim due to its unique storytelling and star-studded cast. The series sees Steven Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez star as residents of the Arconia, an Upper West Side apartment block that plays host to the grisly murder of a man named Tim Kono. The unlikely trio take it upon themselves to solve the mystery of Kono's murder, with their love of true-crime podcasts acting as the driving force behind both their investigation and their friendship.

The series' enormous success spurred on the almost immediate announcement of a second season, with filming then commencing just two months later in December of last year. Season one concluded with some fantastic reveals, while also ending on a massive cliffhanger that saw the true-crime trio being driven away in police cars after they were found standing over the body of Bunny, the antagonistic building manager at the Arconia. Since then many have been desperate for any specifics on when Only Murders in the Building season 2 will return, however, production for the second season has been kept largely under wraps, with even the series' release date remaining unconfirmed at this stage.

Now, the head of ABC and Hulu has revealed that he has seen some of the scripts for Only Murders in the Building season 2 and shared his praise for how the series is coming together. Speaking during a press tour for the Winter Television Critics Association, as shared in a tweet by Hanh Nguyen, Erwich said that the second series certainly stands up to its predecessor and that it holds the same dramatic depth, while still embracing its comedic side. Unfortunately, no release date was confirmed during the event. Check out the tweet below.

Erwich also shared that Only Murders in the Building was the best-reviewed show on Hulu last year, which certainly isn't surprising given the impressive viewership that the show amassed over across its weekly release schedule. Not to mention that the series has maintained a critics score of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes since its release. Martin, Short, and Gomez are all set to return, having recently shared a sweet photo to social media of the three of them back together ready to begin filming.

The decision to end season one with Charles (Martin), Oliver (Short), and Mabel (Gomez) becoming the key suspects in their very own true-crime story was certainly a fun way to round out the first 10 episodes. Having established a strong foundation for season two to build upon and with an exciting addition to the cast coming in the form of Valerian star Cara Delevingne, it's anyone's guess as to what exactly will unfold across the second season and what sort of predicaments the trio could find themselves in next. Erwich's praise is likely to excite many fans, who can now keep their fingers crossed for a release date announcement as Only Murders in the Building season 2 progresses further through its production.
