Warning: Contains spoilers for Only Murders In The Building season 2, episodes 1 & 2.

Hulu's Only Murders In The Building has always hidden clues to its episodes in the opening credits, but the murder mystery might have just made a massive retcon to one of its characters. Only Murders In The Building features three residents of New York City's Arconia building, Charles-Haden Savage (Steve Martin), Oliver Putnam (Martin Short), and Mabel Mora (Selena Gomez) who take to podcasting in order to solve the murders of their neighbors. The critically acclaimed series also guest stars many other familiar faces, such as Tina Fey and Amy Schumer.

The opening credits of Only Murders In The Building are primed with the personalities of the Arconia going about their business. Charles fries an egg, Oliver drinks wine, Mabel sketches, and Jayne Houdyshell's Bunny Folger walks a little scarf wearing pug in front of the apartment building. However, the little details of the opening sequence change from episode to episode in order to provide easter eggs relevant to the episode and reveal clues to Only Murders In The Building's mysteries.

Only Murders In The Building creates an opening credits retcon clues by changing up the pet Bunny is shown walking outside the Arconia. She is shown trotting the same pug around throughout the opening sequence for all of season 1, but in Only Murders In The Building season 2 episode 2, the pug is replaced by a green bird. Charles, Mabel, and Oliver discover Bunny's pet parrot, Mrs. Gambolini, at the end of the season 2 premiere when the trio break into Bunny's apartment.

Mrs. Gambolini's existence retcons Bunny's life and the Only Murders In The Building opening credits because Bunny's friend, Uma Heller (Jackie Hoffman), confirms that Bunny had no other pets. This means that Bunny should have been walking Mrs. Gambolini in the opening credits the entire time instead of the non-existent pug. While Bunny's parrot is sure to have clues to the identity of Bunny's killer, it is possible that Bunny was originally meant to own a pug, but the pug was then changed to the yellow-headed amazonian parrot in order to have more impact on the plot.

While Mrs. Gambolini appearing in the opening credits retcon of Only Murders In The Building could still just be a one-time occurrence, it would be peculiar to have Bunny switch back to walking a pug - especially considering she never even owned a pug to begin with. Hopefully Mrs. Gambolini is here to stay as a permanent addition to the title sequence as the opening credits evolve with the story and characters of Only Murders In The Building. Perhaps Mrs. Gambolini will be walked by Oliver in the next opening credits, seeing as Bunny willed her parrot to her least favorite Arconia resident.
