OnePlus unveiled its first tablet, the OnePlus Pad, at the Cloud 11 launch event held on Feb. 7, and comes with the Dimensity 9000 SoC and a 144Hz display, but is it enough to take on the Apple iPad (10th Gen)? For years, Android tablets haven't been able to compete with Apple's iPads, especially in the non-premium segment. However, the OnePlus Pad could turn things around for good.

The all-new OnePlus Pad features an 11.61-inch LCD, which is not only larger than the iPad (10th Gen) 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display but sharper as well. Although both screens are equally bright, with a peak brightness of 500 nits, the OnePlus Pad's screen supports a refresh rate of up to 144Hz, which users don't get with the latest entry-level iPad. However, the high-end iPad Pro does come with a ProMotion display. The OnePlus Pad also comes with four speakers (two on each side in landscape mode), which support Dolby Atmos. On the other hand, the iPad (10th Gen) has two speakers (one on each side in landscape mode).

Under the hood, the OnePlus Pad runs on the octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 9000 SoC (4nm), while the iPad (10th Gen) boasts Apple's hexacore A14 Bionic (5nm) chipset. Both chipsets can handle heavy multitasking and demanding apps like games and video editors and should provide users with a smooth, seamless experience. However, on Geekbench, the A14 Bionic on the iPad scores about 20 percent more points than the OnePlus tablet's Dimensity 9000 SoC.

OnePlus's first tablet has 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage, while the iPad comes with 4GB of LPDDR4X RAM and two storage options: 64GB and 256GB. The OnePlus Pad has a 13MP primary camera capable of shooting 4K videos and an 8MP front camera that can record 1080p videos. In contrast, the iPad (10th Gen) has a 12MP primary camera that can shoot 4K videos at 60 fps, and a 12MP landscape ultrawide camera on the front that can record 1080p videos at 60 fps.

OnePlud Pad Offers Better Battery Life Than The iPad

The OnePlus Pad comes with a 9,510 mAh battery with 67W fast wired charging and lasts up to 12.4 hours of video playback. Meanwhile, the iPad's 28.6Wh battery lasts up to 10 hours of video playback and has only 20W of charging. Both tablets support accessories like an external keyboard and stylus, but biometric unlocking is only on the iPad. Last but not least, OnePlus doesn't offer a cellular version of its tablet, while Apple does.

While the OnePlus Pad runs on Oxygen OS 13.1 based on Android 13, the iPad (10th Gen) flaunts iPadOS by Apple. OnePlus also offers cross-device connectivity features for editing images and reading messages, which might make more sense for OnePlus or other Android smartphone users. Although OnePlus hasn't announced the price and availability, it is confirmed to arrive in the United States in April. Apple's iPad (10th Gen) is available in four colors and starts from $449, which should be OnePlus' target price for the OnePlus Pad.
