The OnePlus Nord 2 x PAC-MAN Edition is a collaboration between the Chinese smartphone brand and Japanese video game publisher, Bandai Namco Entertainment. Along with announcing the special edition of its popular Nord 2 smartphone, OnePlus is also running a contest that will see three lucky people win one for free.
OnePlus is not new to making special edition products. Its lineup of limited edition phones include the OnePlus 5T Star Wars Limited Edition, OnePlus 6 Avengers Edition, and last year's OnePlus 8T Cyberpunk 2077 Edition. Last month, the company also launched a Harry Potter Limited Edition version of its OnePlus Watch.
The OnePlus Nord 2 x PAC-MAN Edition differs from the regular version of the phone in terms of the design and software. The rear of the phone features a dual film design with the inner film containing phosphorescent ink that causes the phone to glow in the dark. When it lights up, a maze similar to the one from the popular video game becomes visible. On the software side, OnePlus says it has “gamified the device’s software experience.” In other words, users will find elements of PAC-MAN including games, challenges, and hidden content within the customized OxygenOS user interface. The phone will be available in a single configuration that has 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. While it won't be sold in North America, those in Europe, the UK and India will be able to purchase it for €529/£499/₹37,999, respectively.
Play Your Way To Owning One
OnePlus is giving a OnePlus Nord 2 x PAC-MAN Edition phone for free to three lucky winners. Interested participants just have to show how great they are at playing PAC-MAN (here's the link) by aiming for a high enough score to beat out the competition. The contest runs from November 8 to November 10 and, along with the three winners who each get the phone and a pair of OnePlus Buds Z earbuds, there is the chance of winning early access vouchers to purchase the phone before it goes on general sale. A second contest will run from November 12 to November 15 and these winners will get a voucher for a free pair of OnePlus Buds Z if they order the OnePlus Nord 2 x PAC-MAN Edition when it's available to buy. It's worth noting that the various competitions are only open to those living in the locations where the special edition phone is due to go on sale.
OnePlus has decided to keep some of the details under wraps for now, but says it will release more information "in the coming days." Due to this, interested consumers will need to hold on for firm information on when the phone is expected to become available to buy, or to even see what the OnePlus Nord 2 x PAC-MAN Edition actually looks like.
