With just days to go before its big hardware event for its latest Android phones, OnePlus has already shared full specs for the OnePlus 9 Pro's display. OnePlus has always done a great job with the displays on its smartphones, with the company being one of the first to release a mainstream handset with a fast refresh rate display. Taking a look at the OnePlus 9 Pro display specs, it looks like OnePlus's prowess still remains.
What's especially interesting with the lead-up to the OnePlus 9 series is that OnePlus has already confirmed a lot of key details about its new phones. OnePlus announced its partnership with Hasselblad, has revealed multiple camera specs, and even shared full device renders for the 9 Pro. Now, full details for the display have been shared.
The display specs were confirmed in a Tweet from OnePlus CEO Pete Lau, and while the OnePlus 9 Pro isn't mentioned by name, these specs almost certainly pertain to it rather than the regular OnePlus 9. Reading through Lau's Tweet, the OnePlus 9 Pro is confirmed to have a Quad HD+ resolution, "smart" 120Hz refresh rate, 10-bit color depth, HDR10+ support, and 1300-nit max brightness. The folks at PCMag were given even more details about the OnePlus 9 Pro's display, confirming that it measures in at 6.7-inches and will be able to scale all the way from 120Hz to just 1Hz thanks to its LTPO display tech.
How The OnePlus 9 Pro Display Compares To Other Phones
All of those specs sound impressive on their own, but how do they compare when stacked side-by-side with devices the OnePlus 9 Pro will be competing against? Starting first with one of the 9 Pro's greatest threats — the Galaxy S21 Ultra — the OnePlus 9 Pro is able to hold its own incredibly well. Both phones have Quad HD+ resolutions, 120Hz panels with variable refresh rates, and HDR10+ support. The Galaxy S21 Ultra does offer a brighter display with 1500-nit brightness, and for people that want the largest screen possible, it also edges out the OnePlus 9 Pro with a 6.8-inch size.
Another interesting comparison is Apple's iPhone 12 Pro Max. While the iPhone 12 Pro Max is considered to be one of the very best smartphones money can buy in 2021, the OnePlus 9 Pro has a better display in almost every manner. Taking a look at some of the iPhone's specs, it has a lower Full HD+ resolution, 60Hz refresh rate, and a max brightness of 1200-nits. It's a great-looking display in day-to-day use, but at least on paper, the OnePlus 9 Pro will have it beat by a long shot.
Revealing so many specs/features for the OnePlus 9 Pro before its actual launch event might be seen as an odd move by some people, but as a tool to keep building hype, it's paying off. There's no longer any question now about whether or not the OnePlus 9 Pro will have a killer display, and for people that really value a high-end screen on their smartphone, they just got one more reason to look forward to the OnePlus 9 Pro's launch on March 23.
