The OnePlus 11 packs a QHD+ display, a top-tier chip, and a battery that charges from empty to full in less than 30 minutes, but does it have an eSIM? The OnePlus Cloud event brought not just the OnePlus 11, but OnePlus' first tablet, the affordable OnePlus 11R flagship, the OnePlus Buds Pro 2, and a mechanical keyboard made in collaboration with Keychron. However, not all of these products will be available in the United States.

While OnePlus has been far ahead of rivals such as Apple, Google, and Samsung in some areas, such as fast charging speeds and providing chargers in the box, it has been sorely lacking when it comes to eSIM. Most of its competitors have been launching smartphones with eSIM support for years, a feature that has been conspicuously absent from OnePlus phones. But it looks like things are about to change this year, since the OnePlus 11 finally includes eSIM support.

In addition to having support for eSIM, the OnePlus 11 also has a dual nano-SIM slot for two physical SIMs. This means users who only have one SIM can choose to use a physical SIM or an eSIM, while those who have two SIMs can opt for two physical SIM cards. OnePlus doesn't state if the OnePlus 11 has dual eSIM support like the iPhone 14 series sold in the United States. It also doesn't say if it is possible to use an eSIM and a nano-SIM together for a dual SIM experience, but this should be possible.

It is important to state that the OnePlus 11 doesn't have eSIM in all regions. So far, only the models sold in North America, Europe, and some parts of Asia such as Saudi Arabia have support for an eSIM. Most other regions do include a nano-SIM slot though. The OnePlus 11 supporting eSIM and dual SIM cards is a welcome addition for North American users, given that both the OnePlus 10 Pro and OnePlus 10T feature only a single nano-SIM slot.

With its new smartphone, OnePlus joins the likes of Apple, Google, and Samsung as manufacturers that offer smartphones with eSIM support in the United States. While the OnePlus 11 is its first smartphone with the feature, it most likely won't be the last, and buyers should expect it to be a standard feature on the brand's flagship phones going forward.
