The monsters of One-Punch Man's Monster Association have displayed a wide variety of looks and powers, but one of the most ordinary monsters of all, Homeless Emperor, raises far more questions about the origin of his divine powers.

Homeless Emperor has stood out amongst the monsters because he looks like a completely ordinary human, yet he wields some incredible energy-based powers which earned him a top executive spot in the Association. In prior chapters, Homeless Emperor explained that he was acting according to God's will, which he uses to argue in favor of the extinction of humanity. As a homeless man, he was ignored and treated less than human, and his behavior is a natural backlash to that treatment. While he discussed his divine mission with the S-class hero Zombieman, there was no reason for the hero to think that was literal.

In chapter 151, however, it's become clear that Homeless Emperor really did have divine powers granted to him by a godly being--specifically, the same one that Saitama, Flashy Flash, and Oculette encountered after touching the black cube. At this stage, it seems likely that Homeless Emperor came upon one of these cubes as well, even if it wasn't mentioned previously. As it turns out, making a deal with an eldritch being beyond human comprehension comes with some caveats, and the God being revokes not only the power granted to Homeless Emperor but also his life, turning the executive monster into a pile of goo right before Zombieman's eyes. The process in which the power is taken back is quite disconcerting, as the panels featuring the God being are in full color, in contrast with the rest of the chapter's black-and-white layout. The God being crawls across the Moon's surface, then confronts Homeless Emperor in some kind of mental realm of flowers as he towers over the landscape.

This God being has come up a few times now, with each appearance being a very enigmatic experience. The first mention was when Homeless Emperor provided his backstory to Zombieman, but the rhetoric he uses is extremely similar to that employed by Vaccine Man, one of the first enemies to show up in the series. Homeless Emperor was staring at the night sky when he had his vision of "God," and the circumstances are similar here in this vision. Additionally, when Saitama looks into the void where he hears God's voice coming from, the God being is shown floating in the emptiness of space. Whatever "God" is, it has a strong association with space and the night, and here in chapter 151, explicitly the Moon. It's interesting to note that the Moon took some significant damage from Saitama earlier in the series, leaving it with a distinctive pattern of concentric rings. Could God be upset about the damage to the Moon? If so, it would have to mean that Vaccine Man is unrelated, as that happens prior to the damage. It's also worth mentioning that Atomic Samurai's new sword, the Nichirin, is best translated as "Sun Blade," while its counterpart Gachirin is the "Moon Blade." The Gachirin may have some connection to God as well, and if so, there's a solid chance it winds up in the hands of a bad guy.

While the mysteries surrounding "God" have only been building, what more appropriate final villain could there be for One-Punch Man's Saitama than God himself? Should the Caped Baldy find his way into a direct confrontation with God, there's one thing that can be said for certain: he won't be bored in this fight.
