Warning: SPOILERS for chapter #177 of One-Punch Man.

The latest chapter of One-Punch Man has given fans proof of a connection between the mysterious villain called God and people who possess psychic powers (called "espers" or "psychics" in the series). After the debut of the Tsukuyomi organization and with more details revealed about the past of the Psychic Sisters, it seems that many obscure plot threads of One-Punch Man are finally starting to connect.

While fans of One-Punch Man mostly like to wonder about the secret behind Saitama's incredible strength, the most intriguing mystery in the series is actually the nature of God. This enigmatic figure is clearly the ultimate villain teased by One-Punch Man since the start of the series, but besides that very little is known about him. God possesses incredible powers but is apparently unable to interact directly with the world because he is trapped in an extra-dimensional prison, so he operates through "vessels", humans or monsters who are tempted by his offer of power, as happened to Garou during his battle with Saitama.

In recent chapters of One-Punch Man, a mysterious villainous organization called Tsukuyomi made its debut. Not much is known about them, but they are interested in people with psychic powers such as the hero Tatsumaki, whom they held prisoner as a test subject when she was a kid. Tsukuyomi is currently after the villain Psykos, and they try to kidnap her from the Hero Association prison, only to be stopped by Tatsumaki. In chapter #177 of One-Punch Man, a battle between Tatsumaki and the "artificial psychics" sent by Tsukuyomi ensues, which the hero manages to win without too much effort, trapping her opponents in a cage made of rock debris that looks very similar to a small Moon.

One-Punch Man Hints That God Could Be Connected To People With Psychic Powers

There is a recurring theory among One-Punch Man fans that God is actually imprisoned inside the Moon. This comes from the fact that the Moon always appears when God makes his presence manifest, and by a revealing panel showing something that looks like God's back inside a Moon crater. Also, in Japanese mythology and Shinto religion, Tsukuyomi-no-Mikoto is the god of the moon. The group is trying to capture Psykos because of her "Third Eye" power that makes her see the future. Considering that Psykos has had a vision of God at least twice, this is further proof of a connection between God and Tsukuyomi.

The Moon-shaped prison that Tatsumaki creates, then, could be another hidden reference to God. Perhaps, the creature was trapped inside the Moon by one or more powerful psychics, and Tsukuyomi, if they are actually following God's orders, is experimenting on people with psychic abilities to find a way to open God's prison. It remains to be seen how Blast's personal crusade against God fits in this theory but, for now, One-Punch Man has added another intriguing piece to its most mysterious puzzle.
