Warning: SPOILERS for One Piece chapter #1065

One Piece has introduced new villains that are so insanely strong that they may just break the series' power levels. The Seraphim are the most recent models of Pacifista cyborgs created by the World Government's top scientist, Dr. Vegapunk, and even if they are not completed yet only one of them is enough to keep at bay half of the Straw Hats.

The Pacifista were revealed a long time ago as the secret weapon of the World Government. They were built with the intent to replace the Seven Warlords of the Sea, a group of pirates working for the Government to capture other pirates and outlaws. The original Pacifista were cybernetic clones of the former Warlord Bartholomew Kuma, who accepted to become the prototype for the project for yet-unrevealed reasons. They all possessed sturdy metal bodies and an array of weapons that included laser beams modeled after the Devil Fruit powers of Marine Admiral Kizaru. After two years, however, Vegapunk's research produced a new line of Pacifista that completely overshadows its predecessors.

First appearing in chapter #1059 of One Piece, the Seraphim are clones of the other former Warlords, who also possess the DNA of the powerful and near-extinct race of the Lunarians. Vegapunk's mastery of the genetic code allowed him to create these new creatures, who have the strength and skills of the Warlords, the incredible durability of the Lunarians, cybernetic enhancements, and even Devil Fruit powers. In chapter #1065, the Seraphim modeled after Jinbe, called S-Shark, engages a group of Straw Hats in battle, which includes Sanji, Franky, Robin, Nami, and Usopp. S-Shark weathers all their attacks and emerges unscathed from the scuffle, proving that the Seraphim could indeed be the most powerful villains in the series.

What is even more concerning is that, according to Vegapunk and in line with their appearance, these Seraphim are still children. Their growth process is not completed because Vegapunk is afraid to use artificial growth acceleration due to the side effects. The first Seraphim who appeared, modeled after Mihawk and Boa Hancock, withstood even the devastating powers of Blackbeard without getting a single scratch. This is almost unbelievable, because Blackbeard possesses the strongest Paramecia and Logia-type Devil Fruits, and he is supposed to be Luffy's final enemy in the series. This means that, when their growth is complete, the Seraphim will be simply unstoppable and completely overturn the global power balance in favor of the World Government.

Vegapunk's manipulation of DNA gave these new Pacifista the skills of the Warlords, the strength of the Lunarians, and the power of Devil Fruits, but there are still a lot of Mysteries surrounding the Seraphim. The scientist's friendship with Monkey D. Dragon hints that Vegapunk could actually be working against the World Government, meaning that the Seraphim could switch sides at the worst possible moment. If this doesn't happen, however, the Straw Hats and everyone else in the One Piece world will have a hard time dealing with the Seraphim.
