One Piece set photos reveal the Nami actress Emily Rudd's first day on the show. On the heels of her dual roles in the streamer's Fear Street horror trilogy, Rudd will make her debut as Nami in Netflix's upcoming live-action adaptation of One Piece. In the anime series, Nami utilizes her cartographical skills as a navigator for the Straw Hat Pirates and dreams of one day drawing a map of the entire world.

The original One Piece anime series is based on Eiichiro Oda's manga series of the same name and follows the trials of Monkey D. Luffy, a young boy whose body obtains the physical properties of rubber after accidentally devouring a Devil Fruit. With his newly acquired powers and a crew of pirates, Luffy sets sail for the Grand Line in search of the titular treasure in order to become the next Pirate King. Netflix's adaptation was first announced in 2017, though the One Piece cast just recently came together, which also includes Who Killed Sara? star Iñaki Godoy as Luffy, Boiling Point's Taz Skylar as Sanji, Pacific Rim: Uprising's Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, and Greenleaf star Jacob Gibson as Usopp.

Now, One Piece star Rudd is sharing photos from her first day on set of the Netflix show as Nami. Rudd shared the images on Instagram, the caption indicating she has completed her first day of shooting. The photos range from a look at her actor's chair, the flowers she received as a gift upon her arrival, to a selfie showing a side-by-side comparison between Rudd and her character from the anime, Nami. Other than some set photos showing the pirate ships being built for One Piece, this serves as the first official look at the set as shared by a cast member, and confirmation that Netflix's adaptation has officially started filming. Rudd and the rest of the One Piece cast are under intense pressure as they bring their respective characters to life. They have handled the pressure well throughout the pre-production process, but now that the cameras are rolling, Rudd still seems to be fairing just fine.

Since One Piece just finished its first day of production, it will be a while until they wrap and the first official footage surfaces. The good news is that Netflix has other irons in the fire, like their live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender. That series is further along in the production process and could air before the end of the year.
