Warning: SPOILERS for chapter #1073 of One Piece. One Piece has dropped a new, major clue that supports the theory that aliens are, or will be, somehow involved with the series. The revelation of the name of one of the Gorosei (Five Elders) of the World Government, along with important details in the translation of the group's name, seems to indicate that fans of One Piece who are looking for the answers to the series' many mysteries should look up to the skies.

Twenty-five years after its debut, One Piece's story is still full of mysteries and unexplained references. Eiichiro Oda is a master at foreshadowing and teasing answers while keeping fans guessing continuously. Readers still don't know how the story will pan out, but they have the right amount of details to theorize where the story is heading. One of the most famous theories One Piece theories traces the many mysteries of the world to visitors from other planets. This idea is based mostly on what was shown in the Cover Story Enel's Great Space Operations, in which the villain Enel travels to the Moon and discovers the ruins of an ancient civilization, after meeting some bona fide aliens and discovering that his ancestors on Skypeia also came from the moon.

The Gorosei Are The Five Elder Planets

Chapter #1073 of One Piece has just added more fuel to this far-fetched theory. For the first time ever, the name of one of the Gorosei was revealed: Saint Jaygarcia Saturn. Fans were quick in making the right connections. The Gorosei group is composed of the five most important Celestial Dragons. Five is the number of planets that could be observed from Earth in ancient times, so it stands to reason that the other four of the Gorosei have the names Venus, Mars, Mercury, and Jupiter. The three outermost planets that were not visible, and were added to the Solar System much later, are Pluto, Uranus, and Neptune, which are also the names of the three Ancient Weapons of the Great Kingdom in One Piece.

This theory is also supported by the fact that the Japanese word "Gorosei", which has been rendered in English as "Five Elder Stars", could be more accurately translated as "Five Elder Planets", as pointed out by One Piece content creator Artur - Library of Ohara. Could the Gorosei, and the other Celestial Dragons, actually be descendants of aliens? This idea cannot be easily dismissed. The current rulers of the World Government established their dominion 800 years before the events of the series, defeating the Ancient Kingdom and erasing every trace of it from existence. How that exactly happened, however, is still unknown. Perhaps the original Celestial Dragons were visitors from other planets, which would explain their name, and also leads back to another major piece of One Piece lore: the Lunarian race.

The Celestial Dragons Could Be Aliens Just Like The Lunarians

One Piece Gorosei Luffy Wanted

The Lunarians are a nearly-extinct race of powerful individuals who once lived on top of the Red Line, where the Celestial Dragons now reside, and were considered gods. From Enel's Great Space Operations and other clues scattered in the series, it's possible to infer that the Lunarians are related to the fabulous tribes that once lived on the Moon and then migrated to the island of Skypeia on Earth. The World Government hunts the few Lunarians surviving in the world, including King, which suggests they had a hand in their extinction too. Perhaps, the Celestial Dragons and the Lunarians both came from another world and then entered into a conflict for supremacy, which ended with the Lunarian's extinction.

At this stage, every theory is mostly speculation. However, it's undeniable that there is a clear, overarching astrological symbolism in One Piece, which includes the Moon Tribes, the Sun God Nika, and now the Gorosei too. Only time will tell if this actually means that all the mysteries of One Piece lead back to aliens, or if Eiichiro Oda has actually cooked up another, even crazier explanation.
