One Day At A Time Season 3 Trailer Reveals Plenty Of Guest Stars

One Day At A Time

A new trailer for Netflix series One Day At A Time showcases several big guest stars expected to turn up during season 3. One Day At A Time began life as a sitcom in 1975. The series, developed by Norman Lear, followed the struggles of a divorced mother raising two daughters. The show, which aired until 1984, broke a lot of barriers and often broached controversial topics for its time.

Netflix reimagined the series in 2017 with a Cuban family with Lear as executive producer. The rebooted One Day At A Time still features a divorced mother, Penelope, (Justina Machado) with two children, but she is also a veteran who lives with her mother, Lydia (Rita Moreno), a former Cuban refugee. The series still tackles difficult topics and has earned praise for its depiction of important issues like immigration, sexism, mental illness, racism and homophobia. The critically acclaimed series has had multiple awards and nominations. Netflix announced a third season for the series in early 2018.

Netflix released a new trailer for season 3 of One Day At A Time. The trailer not only shows what fans can expect when the show returns but also highlights some of its guest star appearances. Grammy-winning songwriter and theme song performer Gloria Estefan will guest star as Mirtha, Lydia's estranged sister. Brooklyn Nine-Nine's Stephanie Beatriz and Melissa Fumero portray Penelope's cousins, Pilar and Estellita. Kevin (Probably) Saves The World's India de Beaufort, will have a recurring role as Avery, a new love interest for Schneider. Finally, Penelope seems to be getting over Max with a new romantic interest of her own in Mateo, as portrayed by Fresh Off The Boat's Alex Quijano.

One Day At A Time season 3 will release on Netflix on Feb. 8. Meanwhile, Netflix continues to add the kind of original content that was once only found on network television. The streaming subscription service, though, seems to have beat broadcast cable at its own game: A 2018 study showed that Netflix is now more popular than traditional cable and broadcast television for viewing content on TV. Netflix has officially changed how people watch TV.

Part of the success of Netflix comes from its quality original content. Shows with critical acclaim, such as One Day At A Time, will keep viewers subscribing and make sure that the streaming provider continues to give viewers the content they want when they want it. Here's hoping that includes a fourth season of One Day At A Time.
