Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time In Hollywood Adds James Marsden

James Marsden in Westworld Season 1 Episode 6

Westworld actor James Marsden is the latest to join the sprawling cast of Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Set in 1969, a pivotal year in the history of Hollywood, Tarantino's film has been described by the director himself as having a Pulp Fiction vibe. The story centers on Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt as, respectively, washed-up TV actor Rick Dalton and his stunt double Cliff Booth, who happen to share a house next door to doomed movie actress Sharon Tate.

Tarantino has cast Oscar-nominee Margot Robbie to portray Tate, who tragically died at the hands of several members of the Charles Manson family. Though Tarantino explains that the Manson murders act as only a backdrop to the action, several characters tied directly to Manson are set to appear in the film, played by major acting names. Recently, Emile Hirsch and Dakota Fanning were added to the cast, as Manson victim Jay Sebring and Manson follower Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme. Burt Reynolds has also hopped aboard as George Spahn, whose ranch served as Manson's home base for a time.

With filming on Once Upon a Time in Hollywood getting close to beginning, Tarantino continues to fill out his already huge cast. As reported by Variety, the latest to join the ensemble is James Marsden, who can currently be seen as the formerly nice, but now evil Teddy on HBO's Westworld. Unlike many of the other actors attached to Tarantino's film, details on Marsden's character are not yet known. Variety reports that young American Housewife actress Julia Butters has signed on for the film as well.

After toiling for several years in television, Marsden got his big movie break playing Cyclops in the original X-Men, a role he would reprise in three sequels. Some of his other movie credits include Zoolander, The Notebook, Hairspray, Enchanted and Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues. In addition to Tarantino's film, Marsden has also lined up the lead role in the upcoming live-action/CG adaptation of the classic video game Sonic the Hedgehog. He is also rumored to be returning to play Prince Edward in the Enchanted sequel Disenchanted.

Keeping track of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood casting is getting difficult with all the additions. Most recently, Al Pacino was reported to be jumping aboard as the agent of DiCaprio's character. Shortly before that, the movie added multiple performers, including Damian Lewis as film star Steve McQueen (who narrowly avoided death when he elected not to visit Sharon Tate and her friends just hours before the murders), plus Luke Perry, Clifton Collins Jr. (another Westworld star), Keith Jefferson and Nicholas Hammond. Timothy Olyphant too has joined the cast in an undisclosed role, together with Kurt Russell, Tim Roth and Michael Madsen.

According to older reports, Tarantino also means to include Sharon Tate's widower Roman Polanski in the film in a key role, and seeks a Polish actor to portray the film director who would later find disgrace. We'll continue keeping you posted as Once Upon a Time in Hollywood snaps up more actors.
