It was recently revealed that Olaf will be getting his own spin-off movie, exclusively on Disney+ this October. The short film titled, Once Upon A Snowman will focus on the popular Frozen sidekick who is voiced by Josh Gad and has proven to be incredibly popular amongst fans.

This is exactly the type of extra content that Disney fans were hoping the streaming service would provide. Giving further opportunities for some of the great non-main characters to tell more stories and gain more of a focus. Hopefully, this is just the start of Disney's sidekicks being given short films on the platform, because there are tons of great other options that could be chosen as well.

Pain and Panic

It's coming up to Halloween season, and what better way to celebrate that than with a Disney+ short movie about two villain sidekicks? Pain and Panic are hilarious characters that add a lot to Hercules, despite the fact they're not particularly good at their jobs.

Seeing a little bit more about these cheeky characters would be welcomed by Disney fans. Opening up their story with them perhaps looking for redemption and making a few mistakes along the way is a great story to tell with them, especially because they were so popular in the first place.

The Seven Dwarves

The Seven Dwarves with Snow White

The original Disney sidekicks, the Seven Dwarves were the scene stealers in Snow White. Their individual personalities all shone through perfectly and it really allowed for them to become so incredibly iconic and beloved over the years.

Seeing them return with a short movie all about them would be amazing. They're popular enough for audiences to really want to see this, allowing Disney to really focus on them and their lives without having to worry about Snow at all.

White Rabbit

White Rabbit

Why is he always late? How did he end up with the role he has? There are plenty of questions that fans want to be answered about the White Rabbit, and a short film all about him could certainly answer a few of those questions.

The Alice In Wonderland franchise has always proven to be very popular with audiences, and therefore this would be a pretty safe bet. Title it "I'm Late" and run to the hills with some backstory for him, all while adding a few of the other fun and wacky characters that inhabit this world.

Zazu

Zazu in The Lion King

Timon and Pumba ended up with their own movie, so giving them a further spin-off might be overkill at this point. However, one sidekick who doesn't get enough attention or love is Zazu. He's a fantastic character and while he might be a little annoying at the start, he does show his true colors of loyalty at the end.

He gained his own song within the musical with "The Morning Report" and adding that into a short movie would certainly be fun to see. Zazu is around before the movie begins and that could be a starting point for a fun adventure.

Sven

Sven

Disney is obviously nowhere near finished pushing content related to Frozen, which makes sense due to its overwhelming popularity. While Olaf is gaining his own movie, another sidekick from the franchise that deserves one is Sven.

The reindeer is incredibly popular and a lot of fun, and while he does need Kristoff with him, seeing an adventure focused on just them could be really enjoyable. An odd buddy cop style film could make for a lot of fun between this pairing.

Little John

What if Little John was to end up on his own one day, having to do some plans without good old Robin Hood by his side? That's how a short movie about this great sidekick could go down, taking a look at how he would cope on his own, eventually overcoming any worries to succeed.

He's a very warm and fun character and showcasing him in greater detail would certainly be exciting to see. Plus, seeing Little John and some other characters from this movie with modern animation would be a real treat.

Tinker Bell

Tinker Bell is an amazing character who is beloved by Disney fans and while she did get her own run of standalone films, it would certainly be good to see her get a short movie on Disney+. Unlike her own movies, it would be good for these to actually be set in the Peter Pan world, instead of her being with other fairies.

This world is the one where most people are familiar with her and it would be fun for Disney to jump back into that to tell a story with her. Whether it included Peter as well doesn't really matter, because Tink is certainly a big enough star to thrive on her own film.

Raymond

Ray In The Princess And The Frog

Raymond was tons of fun within Princess and the Frog, adding lots of emotion and fun to the movie. He was excitable, he was passionate, and he was very caring, which is what made him the perfect sidekick throughout the movie.

Because Ray sadly dies during the movie, Disney would have to go to his past to create a short story about him. However, that works perfectly as then Disney could introduce his lovely, Evangeline, who is the love of his life who he ends up with after death. A romantic story about them would certainly be a hit.

Lumiere & Cogsworth

Disney has the chance to work a two-for-one situation with the sidekicks from Beauty and the Beast. Lumiere and Cogsworth really come as a package deal and seeing a short film about them with some modern animation would really be amazing.

This is one of the most popular Disney movies of all time, and there is no doubt that there is always an audience for it. Their hilarious love/hate relationship is something that could easily carry a short movie, potentially looking at their life before Belle arrived at the castle.

Mushu

Mushu has always been one of the greatest Disney sidekicks with Eddie Murphy bringing an amazing performance to the character. He was full of life and personality and brought tons of humor to the movie, and right now would be a great time to strike on a Mushu short movie following the release of the Mulan live-action.

Even though Mushu doesn't feature in the live-action movie, there is no doubt plenty of people who have gone and watched the original on the back of it. Telling a further story about him specifically as a guardian could be a great way to work a movie around him.
