The new poster for Once Upon a Deadpool embraces a more heavenly-theme than its predecessors. Fred Savage costars as himself in the film - itself, a PG-13 rated cut of Deadpool 2 - and appears opposite Ryan Reynolds' Merc With a Mouth in its latest one-sheet, angelic robes and all.

Deadpool 2 grossed a hefty $734 million in theaters worldwide this past May and earned generally positive reviews for its efforts. As such, it came as a bit of a shock when Reynolds and Fox revealed their plans to release a PG-13 cut in theaters for the winter holidays, back in September. Once Upon a Deadpool won't be quite as long as its predecessor, but will include 20 minutes of brand-new footage - most of which is composed to scenes from the movie's framing device, wherein Deadpool "reads" the sequel to Savage (who, himself, has been kidnapped by Wade Wilson and forced to reprise his role as a child actor in The Princess Bride).

In addition to serving as a test run for Deadpool's run in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Once Upon a Deadpool will raise funds for Reynolds' cancer charity "F*** Cancer" (which has been renamed "Fudge Cancer", in light of the film's PG-13 rating), with a dollar being donated to the cause for every ticket that's sold. In that respect, it's all the more fitting that the official poster (see below) portrays Deadpool as being a literally angelic figure.

Fox's marketing for Once Upon a Deadpool has thus far banked heavily on the film's winter holiday angle, even more than its PG-13 rating and the brand-new footage. The previous poster likewise showed Savage and Deadpool hitching a ride atop Rudolph on their way to saving Christmas (or whatever it is that Wade Wilson's up to in the film), with the movie's logo embracing a similarly festive font.

All things considered, Once Upon a Deadpool seems like a fun way to raise some money for the holiday season and, at the same time, offer Deadpool fans a litmus test for how well - or not well - Reynolds' iteration of The Merc with a Mouth could work within the boundaries of a PG-13 rating. Fox, for their part, will no doubt be happy to line their pockets with some additional profits from (technically) the same movie they released earlier this year.
