In 1992, a made-for-TV movie came out called To Grandmother's House We Go, and it starred Mary-Kate and Ashley as two distinct characters. This was a first, as these child stars had been both playing Michelle on Full House.

And speaking of that popular family sitcom… Bob Saget and Lori Loughlin appeared in this piece as a Win-O-Lotto Lottery Hosts, while Candace Cameron and Andrea Barber played two audience members!

Their Sister Was In How The West Was Fun

How the West was Fun

Nowadays, the twins’ little sister, Elizabeth Olsen, is the famous movie star, and she actually popped up in several of their videos back in the day, before fans knew her as Marvel’s Scarlet Witch

She also had a small role in How The West Was Fun, another television movie; it was released in 1994, and Elizabeth’s part was Girl In Car.

A Kids' Choice Award Came, Thanks To It Takes Two

One of Mary-Kate and Ashley’s most beloved flicks is It Takes Two from 1995. Starring the twins, Kirstie Alley and Steve Guttenberg, it was a story sort of like The Parent Trap. 

And for it, the girls were nominated for a Young Artist Award for Best Performance by an Actress Under Ten, and they won a Kids' Choice Award for Favorite Movie Actress.

Some Familiar Faces Popped Up In Switching Goals

Another classic work from these two actresses was Switching Goals, which came out in 1999. Michael Cera, an actor known for Superbad, Juno and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, was in it as Taylor.

Adrian Griffin, a professional basketball coach and former player, was in it as a referee. And Alexi Lalas, a retired soccer player, played himself. 

Passport to Paris Started A Production Trend

Passport to Paris, from 1999, is a fan favorite, and this is another direct-to-video film that featured Mary-Kate and Ashley. A fun fact about this one is that it was the first of seven direct-to-video films to star the Olsens and to be produced by Tapestry Films.

There Were Some Plays On Words In Our Lips Are Sealed

In Our Lips Are Sealed, a family had to be relocated by the FBI after the twins’ characters interfered with a diamond thief. The diamond was called the kneel diamond, as a play on Neil Diamond’s name!

Additionally, there was a character named Sidney, who was played by Richard Carter, who is from Sydney, Australia, where the film took place.

One of the best parts of looking back at older films and TV shows is spotting stars who are super famous today. That is the case with Holiday in the Sun, a flick released in 2001; besides showing off Mary-Kate and Ashley, it starred Austin Nichols as Griffen Grayson and Megan Fox as Brianna Wallace!

This is another story that probably had fans begging their parents for a vacation, too, since it all took place at Atlantis Paradise Island. 

One Of Their Movies Sort Of Led To One Of Their TV Shows

Furthermore, in Winning London, Mary-Kate’s character was Chloe, and Ashley’s was Riley, but in So Little Time, their characters swapped names.  

Their Last Direct-To-Video Flick Released In 2003

These young women were known for their direct-to-video tales, and their last one came about in 2003.

This movie was called The Challenge, and it was about these sisters coming together on a fictional series, which was also called The Challenge and which was like Survivor.

Their Second Theatrical Release Came In 2004

New York Minute had the group Simple Plan as themselves and NYC’s Naked Cowboy as himself. Jack Osbourne portrayed Justin, Eugene Levy portrayed Maximillion "Max" Lomax, Andy Richter portrayed Benjamin "Bennie" Bang, and Bob Saget made an appearance. And, of course, Jared Padalecki was Trey Lipton, while Riley Smith was Jim.

Despite all of that, this movie did not do so well. It was, though, Mary-Kate and Ashley’s second film to come out in theaters and the last film to be released by Dualstar Entertainment.
