WARNING: This article contains SPOILERS for Old Man Hawkeye #5

With Hawkeye's vision failing in old age, this is NOT the time for him to be taking on a family of Venoms. But then, when would be?

It was bad enough when Clint Barton decided to finish his final mission as his sight started to fail, since that mission meant tracking down every one of his former Thunderbolt teammates. Not to catch up or reminisce about the good old days, before the world fell apart, the heroes died, and Red Skull took over America. No, Old Man Hawkeye is out to kill the friends who betrayed him... before he loses the ability to kill much at all.

In our exclusive preview of Old Man Hawkeye #5, the new Venom (and former Multiple Man) arrives to kill Clint first, copying himself to make it an unfair fight - in the symbiotes' favor.

In case some Marvel fans have fallen behind on the "Old Man" corner of the comics Multiverse, yes, this is the same timeline in which the original Old Man Logan series was set - although a few years before that story took place. Which poses a bit of a challenge for writer Ethan Sacks and artists Marco Checchetto and Andres Mossa. Because no matter how slim Hawkeye's odds seem, say when a family of Venoms come crashing into a bar to kill him, everyone reading knows he'll make it out just fine.

...right? Take a look at the preview pages below:

The preview of Issue #5 marks Red Skull's entry into the story, only now realizing that one of America's former superheroes isn't just up and about - but killing villains. It's that return to form that has driven the old, Deathlok-ed Bullseye after him, apparently unable to resist the chance to once again do battle with a "got-dang superhero." But for the moment, the more pressing concern is the Multiple Man Venoms who have finally tracked Clint down after murdering their gang in the opening issue.

As we mentioned before, Clint is definitely going to be walking away from the encounter (even if the success of his mission isn't completely guaranteed). The risk will fall, then, to the other people close to Clint who may now pay for his actions. In other words, Clint may walk out of Josie's Bar, but the odds are nowhere near as good for Turk Barrett. Or for his nephew... who is seeming more and more like the Ant-Man of Mavel's Old Man future.
