WARNING: This article contains minor SPOILERS for Old Man Hawkeye #2

-

In the future of Old Man Hawkeye, the supervillain Bullseye is the only sheriff in town. That bombshell was dropped in the very first issue of the new Marvel Comic series, acting as a Hawkeye-focused prequel to Old Man Logan. Set years before the original story united Hawkeye and Wolverine in a future wasteland ruled by the remaining supervillains, Hawkeye is fighting time itself. Well, the fact that old age is attacking the famous archer's eyes - forcing him to right one last wrong before the man who never misses... can't hit a thing.

It's fitting, then, that the villain of Old Man Hawkeye should be none other than Marvel's OTHER famous marksman. Issue #1 ended on the cliffhanger reveal of the mysterious 'Marshall,' a shadowy figure whose deadly reputation precedes him. The final page revealed that mustachioed marshal to be Bullseye, and in our exclusive preview of Old Man Hawkeye #2, his eagerness to kill is thoroughly demonstrated.

Here's hoping Hawkeye has a BIG head start to... wherever it is he's going.

The final reveal of Issue #1 is right where the second issue picks up, which is both good and bad news for the diehard Marvel fans. In just one issue, writer Ethan Sacks and artists Marco Checchetto and Andres Mossa have given not one, but TWO new 'Old Man' villains for the ages. There's Bullseye, as covered above - but it's the birth of Old Man Venom that is certainly making this series a page-turner for an entirely separate audience.

This preview leaves the transformation of Multiple Man into Venom - and the horrible nightmare of an endlessly-cloneable Venom army - to the readers' imagination. But if Bullseye is the tailor-made villain for this aging Hawkeye, it's only right he should get his time in the spotlight following his close-up debut.

Take a look at the preview pages below:

The detective skills of Bullseye are clearly formidable, since his first stop in solving the emergence of "a cot-dang superhero" is the right one to make. It's Justin Hammer who hires Hawkeye to take on the job in Old Man Hawkeye #1, but Bullseye strikes before the Hammer family can flee the coming storm. Hammer's two sons are the first casualties of the Marshal (we hardly knew them). Will Justin Hammer be the next to fall?

And of course, there's the real mystery on which the preview ends. Where is Hawkeye headed? And where are his final miles as a superhero going to take him? For that, fans will need to stick around for the entire issue - and the other ten issues in this year-long saga.
