Andy became distant from Erin, lost his passion for his job, and checked out from all of his responsibilities. However, was he really as bad as he seemed? Before he went rogue, Andy had a ton of redeemable qualities and was the perfect match for Erin. Perhaps there was a little bit of goodness behind his angry facade towards the end of the series.

When He Respected Dwight's Feelings For Erin

Dwight and Andy argue in the middle of the office

After Andy found out that Dwight and Angela were an ongoing couple despite Andy being engaged to her, he had a meltdown. He loathed Dwight and was disrespected by Angela, but instead of taking all his anger out on Dwight, he realized they were two men with broken hearts going through the same thing, and the two bonded over this.

When Erin was new to the office, it was clear that Andy and Dwight both had feelings for her. Instead of fighting over her, they agreed to call it a truce, and whatever happened happened. It was mature of Andy to put his friendship with Dwight first.

At the Christmas party, Robert California was giving Erin drink after drink and then promised to drive her home afterward. So when Erin and Robert left, Andy followed the car to make sure Erin got home alone and safely, proving he had a nice side buried deep within.

Andy found it hard to process his emotions when they were anything but positive. Viewers first caught a glimpse of this when Jim played a prank on him at the Stamford branch. When Andy transferred to Scranton, his anger escalated, leading him to punch a hole in the wall. To protect himself and his coworkers, he was sent to an anger management program.

In an underrated moment in The Office that isn't talked about enough, Andy comes back to the Scranton branch as a new man with different priorities to further better himself.

With Robert California as the new CEO, Andy wanted to prove to his parents how successful he was by throwing a garden party. And while the party was a tad self-serving, it was kind of him to throw something to show his gratitude.

When He Celebrated National Secretary's Day

Andy and Erin celebrate Secretary's Day on The Office

Andy did a ton of nice things when he was courting Erin. He wanted to prove to her that he wasn't just a solid best friend, he had the potential for being an excellent boyfriend. When the two finally started dating, Andy threw a celebration for National Secretary's Day to show Erin how much the office respected and needed her.

Erin felt loved and appreciated all the kindness. The day ended terribly for Andy (Erin found out about Angela) and made the episode cringey but it doesn't take away all the effort he put into the day.

When He Put In All The Effort For His And Angela's Wedding

Angela was a good employee at Dunder Mifflin but she was an awful fiance, girlfriend, and lover. Andy went above and beyond to make a relationship with Angela happen, and when she accepted his proposal, he went full speed to make their wedding a dream.

He spent thousands of dollars on non-refundable things for their big day and tried his hardest to make Angela's expectations a reality. While Andy was naive, these were some of his kindest moments.

When He Was a Whistleblower About The Sabre Printers

When Dunder Mifflin was bought by Sabre, the Scranton branch began selling printers as well. But when Andy received a horrifying phone call from a client about their Sabre printer catching fire in the middle of a printing job, he knew he had to do something.

As a low-key villain in The Office, Gabe wanted to sweep it under the rug and do little about it, but Andy, being the caring guy that he is, wanted the local news stations to know about it to save others from any danger. Andy was later known as a whistleblower and his intentions were lifesaving.

When He Hated That The Office Shamed Sex Education

Andy teaching the office sex education on The Office

After Michael is shamed for having "herpes," Andy hated how uninformed the office was in terms of sex education. With Michael out of the office, Andy took control and taught his coworkers more about STDs and safe sex.

Andy's respect for the topic was one of his best traits. Sure, his coworkers hated everything about his sex education class but it was mature of him to do it and try to educate his coworkers.

When He Wouldn't Let Michael Go To Mexico Alone

After attending Cece's christening, Michael realized that he was in a rut and wanted to see the world. A church group was in attendance at the christening and noted that they were taking a road trip from Scranton down to Mexico to help build homes for those in need.

Michael felt compelled to go, but Andy wouldn't let him go alone. Andy hopped on the bus with Andy as they both questioned their life choices. As usual, Michael and Andy chickened out, but it was Andy's dedication to Michael that made him a good guy.

When He Started Out As A Regional Manager With Good Intentions

Andy on the phone in The Office

Before Andy left his new job as a regional manager for a few days to go on a road trip to Florida to bring back Erin, and before he left for a three-month boating trip without telling Dunder Mifflin's CEO, Andy was a good regional manager.

He had trouble reaching the branch's goals but he tried everything in his hat to inspire his employees. Andy even got a tattoo on his butt as an incentive for his employees to do better. It's moments like those that prove he wasn't always that bad.
