Workplace environments are often filled with corporate greed and healthy competition. And while The Office is a comedy, jealousy is sprinkled throughout the show’s nine seasons. From romantic relationships to promotions, it was hard for the characters to ignore the green-eyed monster within.

Even the most confident of characters had these low moments on The Office. Michael Scott in particular was jealous of anyone having fun or a life that didn’t include him. His jealousy often drove him to increasingly outlandish behavior instead of pushing that emotion aside and talking things through. But Michael isn’t alone in his feelings...

Roy Flipped Out When Pam Kissed Jim

Roy never seemed overly jealous of Pam’s friendship with Jim. As he once said, he just assumed they were close friends. Little did Roy know, his fiancée was in love with another man.

When Pam and Roy were ready to give their love a second chance, she wanted to start fresh. She told him that she and Jim kissed on Casino Night, which triggered Roy. He began yelling at her and started throwing glasses and breaking things. Watching Roy’s outrage made Pam finally realize that they were never going to work and they broke up. However, considering she and Roy dated for over a decade, his jealousy were justified.

Michael Didn't Want Holly With AJ

AJ and Holly The Office

Michael fell in love with Holly as soon as they met. He knew that she was unlike any other woman he knew and that they’d make a great team. The couple sadly broke up when she transferred to another branch but when she was transferred back to Scranton years later, Michael thought they’d have a second chance.

However, when Holly showed up for her first day of work, he found out that she was still dating AJ and had no intentions of breaking up with him. This enraged Michael to his core. He was jealous of AJ because he clearly had something that he didn’t. Knowing that the love of his life was in a relationship made a very dark and jealous side of Michael come out.

Gabe Wanted Erin To Himself

When Erin and Andy broke up the first time around, she quickly started dating Gabe. But there came a point where she realized that she wasn’t attracted to him and broke up with him at the Dundies. The next day at work, Gabe was petrified at the thought of Andy and Erin getting back together. He began acting out and threatening Andy to stay away from Erin. Likewise, he was following Erin around like a puppy trying to win her back. Jealousy was not a good look on Gabe but viewers can still sympathize with his broken heart.

Erin Hated That Andy Moved On

Andy and Jessica in The Office

Andy and Erin never seemed to be on the same page but they couldn’t help their feelings for each other. When Andy became the regional manager, Erin found out that he was now in a serious relationship with a woman named Jessica. Erin tried ignoring her feelings but they all came to a boil at the office Christmas party.

After seeing how beautiful Jessica was, Erin drank too much and told Andy that she wished Jessica was dead. While that was the alcohol talking, it's normal to be upset that your ex is moving on with someone else.

Dwight Was Jealous Of Jim's Promotions

Dwight can blame his pranking and absurdities at work on “getting back at Jim” but it really stemmed from jealousy. Dwight hated how easy Jim had it. He never got into the same trouble that Dwight did, and corporate seemed to love everything about him.

Dwight was jealous that Jim was never slapped on the wrist for his wrongdoings. More importantly, he was jealous of Jim’s friendly relationship with David Wallace. When comparing both characters, Dwight was a better salesman than Jim but wasn’t praised for his good work like Jim was.

Dwight Hated Andy & Angela

The only reason why Angela started a relationship with Andy was to get over Dwight. She wasn’t necessarily attracted to Andy but showing affection to another man in the office would be enough to push Dwight aside. Dwight hated the idea of his former love dating a guy like Andy; they couldn’t have been more different from each other. Things only got worse for Dwight when Andy wanted to vent to him about his relationship with Angela. It was torture for Dwight.

Dwight Was The One That Got Away

Angela and Dwight were cordial for a long time before realizing they were meant to be at the end of the series. While Angela was in a twisted relationship with the senator, Dwight was spending time with Isabel and courting Esther. He even saw Esther as his future wife.

Seeing Dwight move on with two beautiful women upset Angela. She realized that she blew it and that Dwight was going to be gone forever once he proposed to Esther. Her form of jealousy wasn’t necessarily toxic like some of the others but it upsetting to see. But at the same time, she's the one who ended things with Dwight.

Pam Didn't Want Katy Calling Jim

Jim and Katy sitting together on the Booze Cruise in The Office

It was hard for Jim to date during his time at Scranton because he was so in love with Pam. Dating anyone else would be a disservice to them because he was already in love with another woman. However, when Katy stopped by to sell purses, he took his shot and it worked. Pam became instantly jealous of their romance because everyone was raving about Katy’s looks.

In one episode, Katy called Dunder Mifflin to talk to Jim, and Pam scolded him for not giving her his extension. Jim sensed the tension but kept to himself. However, Pam had no one to blame but herself. She was an engaged woman!

Michael Wanted To Be Ryan

Even though Michael was the regional manager of the Scranton branch and had his life semi-together, he was jealous of everything Ryan did. He was jealous of Ryan’s looks, his education, his promotion... Michael tried so hard to become Ryan but he failed to realize that Michael Scott was too much of his own character to become anyone else. When Ryan was promoted, Michael copied his fashion and facial hair out of jealousy. It wasn’t until WUPHF.com failed that Michael stopped being jealous of Ryan.

Jan Thought Pam Was "Peeping" On Michael

In what has to be one of the oddest forms of jealousy between characters, Jan was actually jealous of Pam. Now, she wasn’t jealous of Pam’s love story with Jim — she was jealous of Pam’s connection to Michael.

In “Fun Run,” Jan accused Pam of “peeking” after she accidentally walked in on Michael changing. Likewise, in “Dinner Party,” Jan told Pam that she knew about her secret relationship with Michael. Michael apparently told Jan that he and Pam used to date, which couldn’t have been further from reality. This was just the start of Jan’s misguided jealousy of Pam.
