Mike Flanagan's new horror TV show, The Midnight Club, starts streaming on Netflix on October 7, and fans can't be more excited to see a whole new story from this producer. Flanagan's TV shows have become a Halloween staple, with amazing series like The Haunting of Hill House and Midnight Mass, and this will become the fourth installment of his Gothic franchise.

However, not everyone is a fan of horror stories, and some viewers prefer to stay home watching something light and comforting, like sitcoms. Still, these comedy shows offer plenty of Halloween content, and some of the costumes that characters wear are incredibly hilarious, like Ross's Spud-nik costume in Friends.

Ross's Spud-nik Costume In Friends

Ross As Spud-Nik On Friends wearing a potato costume and a satellite on his head

During the episode "The One with the Halloween Party," everyone goes to Monica's party wearing regular Halloween costumes. Monica dresses as Catwoman, Phoebe as Supergirl, and Joey dresses like Chandler. However, Ross decides to be a little more creative, dressing half as a potato and half as the satellite Sputnik, making the wordplay "Spud-nik".

The hilarious costume fails to make a positive impression among Ross's friends, who at the best believe he's a potato, and at the worst, describe his costume as a "doodie." Certainly, Ross looks hideous in his costume, and it's become one of the most iconic moments from the TV show.

Andy's And April's Burt Macklin And Janet Snakehole Costumes In Parks & Recreation

Andy and April from Parks and Recreations as their alter egos Janet Snakehole and Burt Macklin

Andy and April are one of the best couples on television, and their Halloween costume has become a classic. For the Halloween party in season 7, Andy goes as his after ago, FBI agent Burt Macklin, and April goes as her invented character Janet Snakehole, a wealthy widow with a terrible secret.

Though both characters regularly use these costumes throughout the series, they decide to wear them for Halloween during the epilogue in season 7. Not only are these costumes hilarious, but it is also a token of this couple's relationship and their amazing dynamic.

Lily, Marshall, And Ted As Salt, Pepper, And Cumin In How I Met Your Mother

Ted Marshall and Lily from How I Met Your Mother dressed as salt pepper and cumin Halloween costume

How I Met Your Mother has some of the most emblematic Halloween episodes from sitcoms, with Ted always making the same party on the rooftop of his apartment and dressing up as a hanging chad, so he can find the potential love of his life, the Slutty Pumpkin.

However, the funniest costumes in the series are the ones Ted, Marshall, and Lily craft together since the architect is constantly crashing their couples' costumes. During the series, Ted dresses as the cumin to their salt and pepper, the canoe to their Lewis and Clark, a scared villager to their Frankenstein and the monster, and the bowl of spaghetti the Lady and the Tramp share in the movie.

Charles Dressed As An Orange In Brooklyn Nine-Nine

Halloween episodes are some of the people's favorites from Brooklyn Nine-Nine because of the epic Halloween Heists. However, though these episodes are mostly focused on Captain Holt and Jake's fight to be the best detective in the precinct, there are still some hilarious Halloween costumes.

The funniest costumes from the show are definitely the one Charles tend to wear. Not only are they inappropriate a lot of the time, but people often don't even know what he's supposed to represent. Still, the funniest one is this orange costume, which Jake described as "Ms. Pac-man's nipple."

Cam And Mitch As Prince Harry And Meghan Markle In Modern Family

Modern Family's Cam and Mitch dressed Meghan Markle and Prince Harry for Halloween

For Modern Family's Halloween episode in season 10, Cam and Mitch wore one of the most iconic couple's costumes: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Not only are the costumes on point, with Cam wearing a version of Meghan's famous Carolina Herrera dress, but Mitch is the perfect Prince Harry with his red hair and pale skin.

Halloween is always an over-the-top festivity with the Pritchetts, mostly because Claire was obsessed with scaring people. While there are plenty of amazing costumes throughout the seasons, these take the cake because of Cam's level of commitment to the attire.

Troy's Sexy Dracula Halloween Costume In Community

Troy from Community wearing a papel tower that says Dracula as a Halloween costume

Community is known for its epic Halloween episodes, and these characters often wear incredible costumes, such as Annie's Samara from The Ring, and Troy and Abed's Calvin and Hobbes. However, during "Epidemiology," Troy ditches his amazing Ripley costume to try to be more mature and changes into, what he calls, a sexy Dracula.

What makes Troy's costume absolutely hilarious is that he put zero effort into it. He is only wearing jeans and a toilet seat paper cover with the name of the character he's interpreting. The fact that Troy actually believes this is more mature is also incredibly funny.

Jonah As Brexit In Superstore

Amy as Cleopatra, Jonah as Brexit, and Mataeo as a cowboy for Halloween

During Superstore's season 6, the show had some of the most hilarious Halloween costumes, so it's hard to only pick one from the series. However, Jonah's snobbish decision to wear a political statement as his Halloween costume for his job in a supermarket is definitely the funniest.

While everyone else picks regular costumes, such as Pikachu or James Bond, Jonah is just wearing a British flag t-shirt along with an Exit sign. Later, in season 4, he dresses up as Garry Mander by wearing a shirt with blue and red color fragments, which makes people believe he's actually Spider-Man.

Sheldon's Doppler Effect Costume In The Big Bang Theory

Sheldon dressed as the Doppler Effect and Leonard as Frodo in The Big Bang Theory

The Big Bang Theory is one of the best sitcoms from the 2000s, and Sheldon's costume as the Doppler effect has become an iconic moment from the series. The scientist picks a stripey costume that emulates the change of frequency of a wave depending on the observer's point of view.

However, for obvious reasons, most people don't understand Sheldon's eccentric outfit, especially Penny, who has zero scientific knowledge. On top of that, Sheldon accompanies the costume with a very specific sound that is supposed to give people a better idea of the costume, but it definitely doesn't.

Sydney And Elena As Global Warming Activism In One Day At A Time

Sydney and Elena from One Day at a Time dressed as an icerbeg and Greta Thunberg

As one of the best LGBTQ+ couples on TV, Sydney and Elena from One Day at a Time dress as an iceberg and as activist Greta Thunberg. Elena is always the peculiar one in her family, and evidently, no one understands this couple's costume.

While the other characters wear more traditional costumes, the couple decides to make a political statement. On top of that, instead of trick-or-treating, they would inform people about climate change. In spite of people's criticism, Sydney and Elena, who are truly invested in changing the world and making it a better place, enjoy their costumes thoroughly.

Jim As Three-Hole-Punch Jim In The Office

Jim from The Office wearing a shirt with three black circles that are supposed to be holes

The first Halloween episode of The Office marks a tradition that would follow for the rest of the series, especially for Jim, who is known for his lazy costumes. While other characters make an actual effort - albeit with truly bizarre results like Michael's two-headed creature - Jim just glued three circles on his work shirt, calling himself Three-Hole-Punch Jim.

While this is a truly low-effort joke, it goes perfectly with Jim's personality. First, it matches his cynicism about office traditions, but it's also an ironic remark about the fact that Dunder Mifflin sells paper, so, in a way, he's actually the only one honoring their job.
