Dwight and Angela have one of the most interesting relationships of any couple on The Office. Their relationship wasn’t always a healthy one, and they had many ups and downs throughout the series. It was clear that they were meant to be together, but neither one of them was mature enough to handle that relationship through most of the show.

They both made some bad decisions and weren’t always good people, but, in the end, their wedding was adorable and they were a couple that fans could be happy for. We’ve put together a list of the 11 best quotes about their relationship that prove they are meant to be.

“MONKEY, THIS IS POSSUM. DO YOU COPY?”

Dwight Schrute in The Office

Even early on in The Office, Dwight and Angela were hooking up and then dating, even if they were keeping it a secret. They even had cute pet names that reveal they both had sweet, loving sides, even if those sides weren’t very apparent to others around them.

Hearing Dwight call Angela monkey is super cute, and it’s clear that Dwight has a loving side when it comes to Angela, even if he doesn’t always get things right.

“WE HAVE WASTED TOO MUCH OF OUR LIVES IGNORING THE FACT THAT WE BELONG TOGETHER.”

Dwight’s impassioned plea to Angela in Season Nine that they are meant to be together is super touching. Angela wants to be with Dwight, but she is clearly conflicted and fighting her own happiness. Dwight tells her that he wants to spend the remaining years of his life with her, which is super romantic.

It’s super heart-warming to see how Dwight still loves Angela after all these years and all the things they’ve been through. They clearly have never been able to stay away from each other.

“THIS EXPRESSES HOW LOUDLY I LOVE YOU!”

Dwight isn’t one to be very subtle, and he doesn’t do things in typical ways. His view of romance might not be like most people’s, but luckily Angela can understand and appreciate that about him. In this episode of Season Nine, Dwight pulls Angela over and uses a loudspeaker to express his love for her.

Clearly, he thinks that this stunt will make his love seem more obvious and apparent. While that might seem more obnoxious than romantic, in the context of their relationship, it was rather sweet.

“I JUST NEEDED YOU TO MARRY ME BECAUSE YOU WANTED TO MARRY ME.”

Dwight and Angela - TV Couples That Shouldn't Have Worked

This quote comes from Angela after Dwight proposes to her. Angela reveals to Dwight that Phillip is Dwight’s child. This might not make a lot of sense, considering that Dwight took a DNA sample to a paternity clinic when Phillip was a baby. They told him that he was not the father.

Putting this detail aside, however, it’s really cute they have a child together. Angela wanted Dwight to know he loved her for her, and this moment was a rather sweet one.

“YOU’RE NOT STUPID. JAZZ IS STUPID.”

Neither Dwight or Angela are the most positive people. Dwight can be abrasive and is a rather weird guy. Angela is known for being judgemental and harsh. This is probably why they work so well together. In this scene, Angela is upset about her husband’s affair with Oscar.

She wants to hire someone to injure Oscar, but Dwight keeps her from going through with this. When Angela is upset about the affair, Dwight comforts her. While jazz definitely isn’t stupid, this exchange was super sweet and shows how Dwight tries to help Angela.

“I JUST WANT TO BE FRIENDS. PLUS A LITTLE EXTRA. ALSO, I LOVE YOU.”

This line comes from earlier on in the series. This scene occurs after Dwight does one of the worst things he ever does in their relationship. After killing Angela’s cat, Angela is of course super upset and breaks up with Dwight.

This makes Dwight feel devastated, and he wants to get Angela back. While Dwight’s dedication to Angela is admirable, he clearly made a big mistake.

“I LOVE HIM.”

A lot of the best scenes between Angela and Dwight occur in Season Nine, as this is when they finally get with their happy ending. In Episode 21 of Season Nine, Angela admits that she loves Dwight. Angela has had affairs with Dwight over the years while in other relationships, but she’s struggled to admit how she really feels.

This is also a cute moment as it demonstrates he strength of Oscar and Angela friendship, as she confides in him during a breakdown.

“I’M A DAD! YOU’RE A DAD!”

Angela and Dwight argue in front of her fiance

This is another adorable moment that occurs during the scene where Dwight proposes. Dwight is so excited when he finds out he really is Phillip’s dad, and Angela is excited, too.

It’s a great moment to get to see them finally come together as a family, and for Angela to stop keeping this a secret. While Dwight might be ridiculous at times, it’s clear he is going to be a devoted father.

“MY HEART IS SO OPEN. I’M SO AT PEACE.”

Angela Kinsey as Angela Martin in The Office

At the end of Season Nine, Angela and Dwight are getting married. Angela says this line to Pam when Pam asks her how she’s feeling about the wedding. Considering all of Angela’s issues and how she’s generally so miserable, this is a sweet moment.

Of course, Angela follows this quote up by making judgemental comments about Meredith, so she’s still the same person after all.

“IT’S GONNA BE PERFECT. THE ONLY PEOPLE THAT NEED TO BE THERE ARE YOU AND ME.”

This is another scene from the finale of the series. Dwight and Angela are talking about their upcoming wedding and have an adorable exchange.

It’s satisfying to see Angela more relaxed and less uptight and controlling about the wedding. The two are clearly excited to be finally getting married, and their love for each other is clear.

THEIR WEDDING DANCE

This isn’t technically a quote, but it has everything to do with body language, which is another kind of communication. This is definitely one of the more adorable and romantic moments between the two of them in the entire show. They are both clearly happy and in love.

Seeing Dwight pick Angela up and dance her around is a moment that has us saying “aww.” The two are clearly ready to start their lives together as a family.
