A season 3 episode of The Office would have offered Angela a pretty convincing love interest, but the scene where he was introduced was ultimately cut from the show. Over the course of The Office's 9 seasons, plenty of scenes and minor characters ended up deleted for a variety of reasons, which results in some hilarious, and sometimes very informative extra pieces of The Office's main story being left out. In the case of Angela's missing love interest, there was a very good reason for taking him out of the picture.

Though the most iconic couple in The Office is probably Jim and Pam, other main characters at Dunder Mifflin find their happily ever after as well—most notably Michael and Holly, and in the show's final season, Angela and Dwight. In the case of the later coupe, a very long and uncertain road leads to their eventual marriage, with twists as bizarre as their supposedly romance-free sex contract to conceive a child in season 6. In the end, however, The Office sets up Dwight and Angela's relationship perfectly, and it's clear that they're right for each other.

However, Angela almost met an even better match in The Office season 3 episode 16, "Phyllis's Wedding". A deleted scene saw her seated next to Phyllis and Bob's vet, Dennis, a cat doctor with intense religious principles who would basically have been the mirror image of Angela. Dennis didn't make the final cut, however, because he would have been too perfect for her, and detracted too much from the endgame of her romance with Dwight.

A deleted scene from The Office s3e16 Phyllis's Wedding featured a potential Angela love interest, Dennis

Of course, Anglea does have other love interests besides Dwight canonically, too, but they all serve to highlight how much of a better option Dunder Mifflin's odd beat farmer truly is for her. Andy is far too silly and emotional and doesn't seem to understand Angela at all, while Senator Robert Lipton turns out to be gay and a serial cheater. By comparison, Angela's perfect Office match is Dwight, who shares her odd coldness, traditional values, and disdain for almost everyone they work with throughout the entire series. Dennis, on the other hand, checks all of those boxes in the short time he's introduced, along with being a cat-lover and a devout Christian; traits Angela obviously admires but which Dwight lacks. Thus, the deleted scene would have made Dennis too legitimate a competitor for Angela's affections moving forward, making her inevitable fate with Dwight harder to believe.

At the same time, even in the deleted scenes where Dennis appears, it seems that things between him and Angela won't get very far, as he believes her to be "promiscuous" after learning that she's seeing someone she isn't married to. Nevertheless, Dennis would have been too good of a match for The Office (and cat-obsessed Angela) to pass up if he had actually made it into the show. For this reason, he was cut from The Office as a potential love interest for Angela.
