An update to Meta's Oculus Quest 2 virtual reality headset begun rolling out a few days ago, but some users have raised complaints about a visual bug. Meta announced the Quest 2 in 2020 as a successor to the first-gen Quest standalone VR headset. The new model launched with a higher resolution, higher refresh rate, and a lower price tag. All of this helped the company to sell 10 million units by the end of 2021.

Quest VR headsets are pretty popular and have cemented Meta (Facebook) as a leader in the consumer side of the space. Their popularity is expected to grow even more now that users are no longer required to have a Facebook account to log in to the device. The manufacturer also has some new models planned, including a high-end model codenamed Project Cambria that's expected to launch as the Quest Pro later this year.

Meta began rolling out a new update to the Quest 2 earlier this week and it packs several key new features. However, the v37 update is not without issues as some Reddit users have complained about chromatic aberration. This is basically when colors appear in places they shouldn't be, resulting in color fringes around the edges of objects. According to Android Central, Meta has released a statement confirming the company is looking into the matter and will provide an update when there is one.

You Might Want To Turn Off Wi-Fi

Oculus Quest 2 can now be paired to Apple's Magic Keyboard

Thankfully, the update is rolling out gradually which means a lot of users have yet to get it. Unfortunately, the Quest 2 updates automatically and there is no way to turn automatic updates off. Unless Meta pauses the rollout, the best solution at the moment is to turn Wi-Fi off so that the device doesn't connect to the internet and automatically apply the update. Of course, that's not a great option for users that need to connect to the internet to carry out tasks, but it's either that or run the risk of encountering the problem other users have.

Save for the visual bug, the v37 update does bring a lot of new features to the Quest 2 headset. For example, Apple Magic Keyboard owners can now pair their keyboard to the VR headset and see a 3D representation of the keyboard and their hands in their home environment. There's also now the ability to share links from an Android device to the Oculus Quest 2 headset via the mobile app, as well as the option to access a Quick Action menu by making a pinching hand gesture.
