Square Enix’s Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent mobile game is getting a crossover with Bravely Default 2. The Japanese developer and publisher recently announced the crossover, stating that the characters from Bravely Default 2 will be making appearances in the mobile title.

Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent is set years before the events of the first Octopath Traveler released on Xbox, PC, and Nintendo Switch. The mobile title is a free-to-play RPG where a different side of the storylines are explored. Players can come across the original heroes from Octopath Traveler, but mostly the storylines revolve around the enormous pool of characters available in the mobile game. On release, the game had 64 heroes, with more being added all the time. These characters use a mix of eight kinds of weapons and eight kinds of elements. As it turns out, now some of the Bravely Default 2 characters will be added to the mix.

This news comes from the latest edition of Weekly Famitsu, which featured the protagonists from Bravely Default 2 on the cover. This edition was translated online, with the edition revealing the crossover event between the two JRPG franchises. According to translations of the Weekly Famitsu on Nintendo Wire, the crossover will be starting on April 28, with one of the main characters Elvis becoming a playable character with his own story.

Adelle will also be coming to the mobile title as a guide. Two more characters from the first Bravely Default game are set to be added as guides as well, releasing on May 6 and May 13. Only the pixelated silhouettes have been released so far, but fans of the franchise believe these characters to be Agnes Oblige and Edea Lee from Bravely Default. Whether or not this is correct will be revealed on release, along with any event-specific items and promotions.

The Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent mobile title has not yet been released in the West and no news of an eventual release has been made. The regional release may have been delayed, as the Japanese release was delayed a whole year thanks to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic causing workers to relocate to working from home. Fans of both Bravely Default 2 and Octopath Traveler in the west are missing out, hopefully, the mobile game is eventually translated and released for North American and European regions soon.
