Hidden temple locations in Octopath Traveler 2's land of Solistia called Altars allow players to unlock hidden abilities related to specific characters in their party. These EX skills are powerful tools in battle, ranging from large AoE attacks to life-saving restorations of HP beyond the normal cap. These Altars represent eight gods that the local people of the land worship, and are connected to the eight heroes players take control of throughout the main story.

The eight Altars that exist in the game are all found in the same location no matter which character in Octopath Traveler 2 players start with for their adventure. However, certain Altars are found sooner than others, perhaps giving players an opportunity to have a strong lead character quickly by gaining their EX skill early on. For example, choosing the Dancer Agnea puts players really close to the Altar of the Lady of Grace, giving Agnea a chance to be really strong close to the start of their story.

The Lady of Grace

Agnea Dancer EX

Windy Refrain - Deals AoE Wind damage and causes all allies to act first on the following turn.

In the Leaflands, close to Cropdale and Wellgrove. Players are able to travel to Wellgrove and reach the altar located behind vines by traveling on Northern Welgrove Trail to its east exit.

The Flamebringer

New Octopath Traveler 2 character Temenos Cleric EX

Prayer for Plenty - Restores HP to one ally, ignoring the HP cap.

Within the same area players get the Cleric License, the church in Borderfall, behind a green door.

The Trader

Partitio Merchant EX

Negotiate Schedule - Lets Partitio bribe an enemy on their turn, costing money instead of SP. The number of leaves needed to succeed depends on the enemy's level, importance to the story, and Partitio's level.

Players can find this altar in the eastern section of the Southern Crackridge Wilds, hidden in a cave past the long bridge that also hosts a treasure chest. A secret passage on the right wall leads down a slope to an opening where the altar may be seen.

The Huntress

Ochette Hunter EX

Indomitable Beast - Raises new Octopath Traveler 2 main character Ochette's Phys. Atk., Evasion, and Speed for three turns. Effect can be extended by Boosts.

A couple steps south of the Tropu'hopu teleportation spot outside of town.

The Scholarking

Osvald Scholar EX

Teach - Copies all positive status effects on Osvald to a single ally for two turns. More turns can be added from Boosts.

Fast traveling to Winterbloom and exiting the area puts players in the Western Winterbloom Snows area. The altar is just past the frozen lake, under the bridge in the same region.

The Charitable

Castti Apothecary EX

Drastic Measures - Unleashes a powerful axe attack on a single target, nullifying status ailments and debuffs as a great tactic in Octopath Traveler 2's JRPG systems. This deals more damage depending on the number of statuses nullified.

Within Northern Conning Creek Coast, in an area with lots of shallow water toward the east.

The Prince of Thieves

Throne Thief EX

Veil of Darkness - Does AoE Dark damage and lets Throne dodge the next physical attack as a great tactic in Octopath Traveler 2's JRPG systems.

Teleporting to Clockbank and exiting the town leads players to the first boat on a nearby pier, which they can take to the altar close to the section on the water with lilypads.

The Thunderblade

Hikari Warrior EX

Ultimate Stance - For three turns, Hikari's attacks become AoE strikes. Boosts extend the time limit on this ability.

From Conning Creek or Sai, players can find this final altar location in Octopath Traveler 2 in the Eastern Sai Sands, at the end of a long path in the south.
