Moses Ingram opens up about how her Obi-Wan Kenobi villain Inquisitor Reva is similar to Darth Vader and Grand Inquisitor in their goals. Ingram, who is on a recent hot streak with her Emmy-nominated performance in The Queen's Gambit and role in The Tragedy of Macbeth, is making her Star Wars franchise debut as a member of the Jedi-hunting group. Her role was previously kept under wraps until Obi-Wan Kenobi first images revealed her to be an Inquisitor hot on the trail of Ewan McGregor's titular hero.

Alongside Ingram, Obi-Wan Kenobi marks the Star Wars debuts of Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O'Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, Benny Safdie, Maya Erskine and Rory Ross. Development on the standalone project first began in 2017 when Stephen Daldry signed on to helm a film for the character, though would be put on hold for a couple of years following the financial disappointment of Solo: A Star Wars Story, later being revived as a TV series as Lucasfilm began building their small-screen library with The Mandalorian. With Deborah Chow at the helm, Obi-Wan Kenobi would finally enter production in early 2021 and nearly a year later those behind the series are offering some insight for what's to come.

As part of the outlet's reveal of first images for the series, Ingram caught up with Entertainment Weekly to offer some insight for Obi-Wan Kenobi. When asked about her villainous intent, the star discussed how Reva is similar to Darth Vader and Grand Inquisitor, hinting towards the latter villain making his live-action debut. See what Ingram shared below:

"They share a common dark-side goal. They're on the same team. [Reva stands out from the two as her drive is] all heart."

Originally created by Dave Filoni and Charles Murray for Star Wars: The Clone Wars before being repurposed by Simon Kinberg and Henry Gilroy for Star Wars: Rebels, the Grand Inquisitor endured an interesting journey through the animated shows, beginning as a Pau'an Temple Guard who defects during Order 66 to hunt down the remaining Jedi and appearing as the main antagonist in Rebels season 1. His spirit would later come back in season 2 as The Sentinel and assist Kanan Jarrus in combatting his former subordinates and grant the young hero the title of Jedi Knight. After appearing in a number of non-canon stories, The Grand Inquisitor would return in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order for a brief conversation with main antagonist Ninth Sister.

Rumors surrounding the Grand Inquisitor's inclusion in Obi-Wan Kenobi have swirled since February when reports surfaced claiming Homeland vet Rupert Friend had been cast in the villainous role. With Ingram comparing her villain to both the Grand Inquisitor and Darth Vader, the latter of whom is confirmed to appear with Hayden Christensen reprising his role, the possibility of truth behind these rumors is seemingly building. Only time will tell when Obi-Wan Kenobi hits Disney+ on May 25.
