The Obi-Wan Kenobi behind-the-scenes sizzle reel is officially released online after accidentally leaking. While the Star Wars movies are on hiatus, Lucasfilm is focusing on an ever-growing slate of TV shows set in the galaxy far, far away. One of the more anticipated projects coming through the pipeline is Obi-Wan Kenobi, which features Ewan McGregor's long-awaited return to the franchise. The show also sees Hayden Christensen reprise Darth Vader, setting the stage for the two to have an epic rematch following their duel in Revenge of the Sith.

Plot details for the show have been scarce, but viewers got a brief taste of what the creative team has in store when an Obi-Wan Kenobi sizzle reel circulated online prior to Disney+ Day. The video consisted of brief soundbites from McGregor and director Deborah Chow, as well as concept art showcasing the Obi-Wan Kenobi characters and locations. However, the video was released too early, leading Disney to pull it down. Now, it's been officially released.

As part of the Disney+ Day festivities, Disney+ shared the official Obi-Wan Kenobi behind-the-scenes sizzle reel. It is identical to the one that leaked prior. The video is available to watch on the streaming service. It was also shared by Allan De Munnink on YouTube.

The reel is just a brief look at what the Obi-Wan Kenobi team has in store, but it does shed additional light on the narrative. One of the more notable takeaways is the variety of Star Wars locales highlighted in the concept art. A key part of Obi-Wan Kenobi is the titular Jedi's exile on Tatooine, but the show won't just be set entirely on the desert world. It'll be interesting to see how the story unfolds, especially with Obi-Wan facing threats from Inquisitors hunting down Order 66 survivors. McGregor also expresses excitement for working with Christensen again, teasing the pair's fight scene. Christensen himself is not seen in the video, but Vader is featured in concept art, sitting in his Mustafar fortress.

With Obi-Wan Kenobi set to premiere at some point in 2022 (the exact date hasn't been announced yet), Lucasfilm is just in the early stages of marketing and promotion. Right now, the studio's top priority is December's The Book of Boba Fett, but it should be only a matter of time before Obi-Wan Kenobi becomes the focus. For now, a little glimpse into the show will suffice. One of the selling points of the Star Wars shows is an ability to do deeper dives into characters and tackle stories the movies can't. From the looks of things, Obi-Wan Kenobi could help flesh out the prequels and original trilogy, adding more weight and depth to the Skywalker saga.
