Despite when Obi-Wan Kenobi takes place, there are still a number of Jedi canonically alive during the show. At the moment, there aren’t any Jedi set to appear in the show besides the titular Obi-Wan Kenobi and, from a technical standpoint, Luke Skywalker. However, the premise of the show does make it possible for other Jedi to appear, and even if they don’t, with how vital the Jedi are to Star Wars, it’s always important to be able to keep track of where they are in every new installment of the franchise.

Obi-Wan Kenobi takes place ten years after Revenge of the Sith, and Obi-Wan - like the other Jedi who managed to escape Order 66 - is in hiding from the Inquisitors hunting Jedi in the name of the Empire. Various scenes and dialogues from across the franchise, including Obi-Wan’s dialogue in A New Hope, indicate that the Inquisitors had a lot of success with their mission, and there end up being very few Jedi left in the galaxy by the end of the original trilogy. Luke would eventually try to start a new Jedi Order, but even that fell apart, and The Rise of Skywalker ends with Rey being the last known Jedi in the galaxy.

With Obi-Wan Kenobi taking place in 9 BBY, however, that’s still a long way off. With this in mind, there are a number of Jedi who should still be alive at the time. Many of the characters alive at this point only had small appearances or wouldn’t be considered Jedi at this point in time, but they still count, nonetheless - though surviving Jedi from the Star Wars Legends continuity won’t be listed.

Obi-Wan Kenobi

Naturally, Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi is one of the Jedi still alive at the time of his own show. Obi-Wan Kenobi being a prequel series means that Obi-Wan can’t die, since that doesn’t happen for another nine years in A New Hope. Beyond that, Obi-Wan’s appearance in Star Wars Rebels takes place in 2 BBY, meaning that whatever happens in Obi-Wan Kenobi won’t prevent him from being on Tatooine by that time.

Luke Skywalker

Luke Skywalker plays on the Lars Homestead in Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Equally obvious as Obi-Wan still being alive at this time is the original Star Wars hero, Luke Skywalker. With the show taking place in 9 BBY, Luke should only be ten years old, and it wouldn’t be for another nine years that he begins training as a Jedi. Nevertheless, Luke’s future status as a Jedi allows for him to be listed here, even if he’s just a farm boy during Disney+'s Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Leia Organa

Leia from Star Wars

By virtue of being another character who first appeared in the original trilogy, Leia - who would also be ten years old at the time - is still alive at the time of Obi-Wan Kenobi. Leia didn’t receive any training until Luke trained her following the fall of the Empire, and while visions of what would happen to her son, Ben, made her stop, she still became a Jedi strong in the Force, and even had her own personal Lightsaber. At the time of Obi-Wan Kenobi, however, Leia is just the princess of Alderaan, although the seeds of rebellion were already being planted in her, as shown in the novel A New Hope: The Princess, the Scoundrel, and the Farm Boy.

Yoda

Yoda in Star Wars The Phantom Menace

Another Jedi alive by virtue of their appearances in the original trilogy is Jedi Master Yoda. Following his failure to defeat Emperor Palpatine, Yoda went into exile on Dagobah, where he stayed in isolation until Luke came to him for training in The Empire Strikes Back. Even with that, however, Yoda would occasionally reach out to various Jedi and Padawans through the Force, most notably Kanan Jarrus and Ezra Bridger in Star Wars Rebels.

Ahsoka Tano

Ahsoka Tano was Anakin Skywalker’s Padawan in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and she was one of the few known Jedi to survive Order 66. Following Order 66, Ahsoka spent her years trying to survive and fight the Empire whenever she could, eventually becoming the Rebel informant Fulcrum. Star Wars Rebels showed that the Jedi Ahsoka Tano was still alive when the Empire fell, and The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett showed her still alive years later, and the upcoming Ahsoka show should serve to add more to her story.

Ezra Bridger

Ezra Bridger doesn’t appear until Star Wars Rebels, which originally started in 5 BBY, so he’s also alive at the time of Obi-Wan Kenobi. While Ezra wouldn’t receive proper training until meeting Kanan Jarrus, he was still Force-sensitive, nonetheless, and he would even unconsciously use the Force at times while living on the streets in Lothal. Rebels ends with his fate left uncertain, but it’s likely that future projects, most likely Ahsoka, will delve into it.

Kanan Jarrus

Kanan Jarrus, originally named Caleb Dume, is another Jedi who survived Order 66. Kanan spent years in hiding until he met Star Wars Rebels' Hera Syndulla and joined her rebel cell the Spectres, which eventually led to him meeting Ezra Bridger and taking him under his wing. Kanan would then spend several years training Ezra and fighting the Empire until dying in 0 BBY protecting his friends.

Cal Kestis

Another Jedi who survived Order 66 is Cal Kestis, the protagonist of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Fallen Order takes place in 14 BBY, five years after Order 66, and revolves around Cal coming out of hiding to find a Jedi Holocron containing the locations of Force-sensitive in the hopes of restarting the Jedi order. Cal hasn’t appeared in anything since, but with Fallen Order ending with him still being alive, that provides enough justification for him being alive at the time of Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Cere Junda

Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order Cere Junda

Another surviving Jedi introduced in Jedi: Fallen Order is Cere Junda. Cere severed her connection to the Force to protect herself from the Dark Side, but she ultimately reforges her connection and returns to being a Jedi by the end of the game. Like Cal, Cere hasn’t appeared in anything since Fallen Order, but her being alive at the end of the game means she could easily still be alive during Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Grogu

Grogu meditates on a rock on Tython in The Mandalorian

With Obi-Wan Kenobi taking place about 18 years before The Mandalorian, it’s a given that Grogu is still alive at the time of the show. While Grogu is technically a Jedi Youngling due to his age relative to his species and his status at the time of Order 66, his role in the franchise can allow him to be counted, regardless. It’s unclear what Grogu was doing between Order 66 and Disney+'s The Mandalorian, and while Obi-Wan Kenobi takes place during that time period, it’s highly unlikely that the show will address it.

Naq Med

Force Collector Cover

Naq Med was a Jedi introduced in the young-adult novel Force Collector. Med left the Jedi Order during the Clone Wars and went into hiding after a fight with the Grand Inquisitor to protect his family, eventually dying after meeting his grandson Karr Nuq Sin, who’s pictured above. Med died in 30 ABY, a few years before The Force Awakens, so he’s undoubtedly alive at the time of Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Quinlan Vos

Quinlan Vos as he appeared in Clone Wars

Quinlan Vos is a Jedi who made his proper canonical debut in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and like other Jedi on this list, his status isn’t entirely known at the time of Obi-Wan Kenobi. While Vos could have easily been killed in Order 66, supplementary material has hinted at his survival, so he could still be alive at the time of Obi-Wan Kenobi. Additionally, while it’s no longer canon, Legends continuity explicitly has him surviving Order 66, and that could easily be carried over into the main continuity to have him be alive.

Ka-Moon Kholi, Oppo Rancisis, Coleman Kcaj, And Selrahc Eluos

List of surviving Jedi in the Darth Vader comic

Ka-Moon Kholi, Oppo Rancisis, Coleman Kcaj, and Selrahc Eluos are four minor Jedi with very few appearances in the franchise. The four of them are listed as Jedi confirmed to be in hiding in an issue of the 2017 run of the Darth Vader comic, but they’re never shown to have been discovered by the Empire. Since these Jedi were noted to be very good at staying hidden, they could have managed to evade capture and remain alive at the time of the Obi-Wan Kenobi show.
