Ewan McGregor recently admits he really wants to do Obi-Wan Kenobi season 2. Set 10 years after the events of Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, the science-fiction fantasy series finds the titular hero called to action once more as Princess Leia Organa (Vivien Lyra Blair) is kidnapped by the Inquisitor Reva the Third Sister (Moses Ingram). After a decade of hiding, Kenobi must take on the might of the Empire, the Inquisitorius, and his old friend Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) to protect the young princess.

Even though Obi-Wan Kenobi was only officially announced in 2019 at the D23 Expo, the show was in development for some time before, beginning as a film project. Following the poor performance of Solo: A Star Wars Story, Obi-Wan Kenobi seemed like it would never reach audiences. However, Lucasfilm refocused their efforts toward Disney+ after the success of The Mandalorian. Obi-Wan Kenobi has proved immediately successful, with the streaming service announcing that the show recorded the most-watched Disney+ premiere ever, overtaking both The Mandalorian and the MCU series Loki.

In a recent interview with GQ, McGregor discusses his return to the role of Kenobi after 17 years. He shares his thoughts about the possibility of continuing to play the famed Jedi Master following the completion of the current six-episode television series, revealing he'd be up for Obi-Wan Kenobi season 2. I really hope we do another. If I could do one of these every now and again – I’d just be happy about it.

What Day And Time Obi Wan Kenobi Episodes Release

McGregor clearly enjoyed his time reprising the role of Kenobi on the Disney+ series. The actor had previously expressed his excitement for returning to Star Wars multiple times, and his desire to continue working on the long-running franchise shows no sign of waning. The fan response to his return has been overwhelmingly positive, further bolstering the actor's eagerness to continue expanding his character's story, regardless of the fact that Kenobi's future is known.

With the Jedi Master's death in Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope certain, there is not much room for expanding Kenobi's story before he whisks Luke away from Tatooine following the brutal killing of Aunt Beru and Uncle Owen. Although the Jedi returns to the ways of the Force, as evident by his duel with Darth Maul in Star Wars: Rebels as well as his use of his lightsaber to protect Luke in the Mos Eisley cantina, the Hutt crime lords still reign supreme on the planet, indicating he keeps a low profile. McGregor's return for Obi-Wan Kenobi season 2 would most assuredly be a welcome one, but the gap in the character's timeline for any significant story is shrinking.
