Obi-Wan Kenobi has the potential for many exciting cameos from famous Star Wars characters, and due to its placement in the canon continuity’s timeline, there are original and prequel trilogy-era characters who could appear. Obi-Wan Kenobi will see the long-awaited return of Ewan McGregor as the titular Jedi Master and Hayden Christenson as Darth Vader, but these aren’t the only familiar faces from the Star Wars franchise who can appear. Obi-Wan Kenobi’s premise, setting, and proximity to famous properties outside of the Skywalker Saga, such as Star Wars: The Clone Wars, allow for a plethora of Star Wars characters to appear.

Obi-Wan “Ben” Kenobi spends the majority of the 19 years between Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope on Tatooine, watching over a young Luke Skywalker to keep him safe and prepare for the moment when his Jedi training will begin. Although the Galactic Republic and the Jedi Order were destroyed by the Empire in Palpatine’s coup, Kenobi and Yoda continue to actively, albeit quietly, work against the Sith and their fascist regime. Luke and Leia are to be the first of a new generation of Jedi to overthrow the Empire when the time is right.

In addition to bringing back Star Wars icons Obi-Wan and Darth Vader, the Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ series will also feature Bonnie Piesse and Joel Edgerton, reprising their roles as Beru and Owen Lars, and the live-action debuts of the Grand Inquisitor and Fifth Brother from Star Wars Rebels. Despite its proximity to properties like The Clone Wars, Rebels, and A New Hope, certain characters, like Captain Rex, Ezra Bridger, Han Solo, and Chewbacca, can’t interact with Obi-Wan, making their potential appearances highly unlikely. Here are the Star Wars characters that can appear in Obi-Wan, however.

Yoda

Yoda, like Obi-Wan, is hiding from the Empire during the events of Obi-Wan Kenobi, biding his time until he can train one or both of Anakin Skywalker’s children as Jedi. While a scene on Dagobah with Yoda is unlikely, there are ways that he could show up in Obi-Wan Kenobi. A voice-only appearance of Yoda is possible, with Kenobi either remembering the Jedi Master’s instructions or the two communicating through the Force, thanks to their close bond as friends and colleagues. Another possibility is a Clone Wars-era flashback featuring Yoda in person.

Emperor Palpatine

Obi-Wan will almost certainly not interact with Emperor Palpatine, but the Sith Lord could easily appear in a hologram conversation with his apprentice, Darth Vader. Ian McDiarmid would likely play the iconic role in this case, complimenting the return of Obi-Wan Kenobi’s four other Star Wars film actors reprising their roles. As the autocratic leader of the Empire, Obi-Wan may also see recordings of The Emperor at various points in the series, similar to Palpatine’s appearances in Star Wars: The Bad Batch.

Commander Cody

Star Wars Commander Cody

Before his brain implant compelled him to betray Obi-Wan during Order 66, Commander Cody was one of Kenobi’s closest friends during the Clone Wars, leading the 212th Battalion alongside him. Cody’s story after the Clone Wars has yet to be told, but The Bad Batch has established that clones can gradually overcome the effects of their control chips, making redemption for Cody possible if he reunites with the former General Kenobi in Obi-Wan Kenobi. Temuera Morrison would reprise his role as Cody, having played the clone officer in Revenge of the Sith.

Biggs Darklighter

Star Wars: Biggs Darklighter in A New Hope

Although Luke Skywalker most likely won’t have a major role in Obi-Wan Kenobi (despite his importance to Kenobi’s mission), the show will depict him as a child, with Obi-Wan keeping him safe from afar. A New Hope and other Star Wars material establish that Luke and Biggs Darklighter are lifelong friends, so it’s quite possible that a young Biggs will appear in Obi-Wan Kenobi as well. Perhaps the two find themselves in danger (a common occurrence on the hazardous Tatooine), only for Kenobi to rescue them.

Hondo Ohnaka

The pirate captain Hondo Ohnaka began as a dangerous adversary to Kenobi in The Clone Wars, but gradually became a (somewhat awkward) friend and potential ally to the Jedi Master. While Hondo was a powerful leader in The Clone Wars he seemingly lost his crew by the events of Rebels, so Obi-Wan Kenobi can show how the Empire broke up his pirate crew. Since Obi-Wan Kenobi won’t entirely take place on Tatooine, perhaps Ohnaka and Kenobi will work together again against the Empire in another seedy part of the galaxy.

Qui-Gon Jinn

Obi-Wan Kenobi’s late mentor, Qui-Gon Jinn, notably retains his consciousness after death, teaching Yoda the same technique during his time on Dagobah. Qui-Gon may also reach out to his former padawan, speaking to Obi-Wan again and offering him sagely advice and perhaps similar tutelage, as Kenobi also became a Force ghost after his death in A New Hope. Liam Neeson would be the only choice to reprise this iconic role from the Star Wars prequels.

Bail Organa

Jimmy Smits as Bail Organa in Rogue One

Bail Organa is the only person aware of Obi-Wan and Yoda’s long-term plan to defeat the Empire, having ideated it with them at the end of Revenge of the Sith. As shown in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and A New Hope, Organa sent Princess Leia to contact Kenobi and recruit him to the Rebellion, knowing how valuable a Jedi Knight is in a full-scale war. Jimmy Smits would reprise the role, potentially in a scene that features Imperial politicians, despite Organa’s true intention to undermine the Empire.

Leia Organa

If Obi-Wan Kenobi features Bail Organa, it’s fairly likely that a young Leia Organa will appear as well. As the Princess of Alderaan and an eventual leader of the Rebel Alliance, it’s easy to imagine a scene featuring Bail Organa also including Leia. Even at a young age, Leia would likely be involved (or at least well-versed) in galactic politics, preparing her for her role as an Imperial senator who helps found the Rebellion.

Jabba the Hutt

Jabba the Hutt in his palace in Return of the Jedi.

Tatooine is, infamously, controlled by the Hutt Clan, with Jabba the Hutt ruling the desert world. Jabba likely won’t interact with Obi-Wan or the Lars family personally, but he could easily show up in a public event on Tatooine, similar to his appearance in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace. In the unlikely event that Obi-Wan does interact with Jabba, it might be to convince him that the area near Lars Homestead isn’t profitable, thus protecting Luke, Owen, and Beru from Jabba’s criminal forces.

Boba Fett

Obi-Wan Kenobi’s latest trailer revealed that the Imperial Inquisitors will hire bounty hunters of varying skill and competence levels to draw out surviving Jedi. Boba Fett would only be an up-and-coming mercenary at this point, but he’d still be a deadly potential opponent for Kenobi. If Boba Fett appears in Obi-Wan Kenobi, he will likely be played by Daniel Logan, reprising his role from Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones and The Clone Wars.

Greedo

Greedo- Star Wars A New Hope

Although Greedo isn’t as iconic or as formidable as Boba Fett, he is still shown to be a deadly bounty hunter in both canon and Legends non-movie material. Obi-Wan Kenobi can show Greedo’s competence as a bounty hunter by having him pursue Kenobi while on the Empire’s payroll. As with Boba Fett, Greedo might also simply have a cameo on Tatooine, perhaps acting as an enforcer for Jabba the Hutt.

Ahsoka

Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano

Ahsoka never became a true Jedi, having left the Jedi Order as a padawan towards the end of the Clone Wars. During the events of Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ahsoka would likely be helping to establish the Rebel Alliance through her mysterious alias of Fulcrum. Whether or not Ahsoka interacts with Obi-Wan Kenobi’s titular hero, she could easily appear as an ally of Bail Organa’s if he appears in the upcoming Star Wars series, with Rosario Dawson reprising her role from The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett.
