PC gamers can expect to pull even more horsepower from Nvidia's highly-regarded GeForce RTX 30 graphics cards (GPUs) thanks to the firm's latest resizeable BAR support. The GeForce RTX 30 series has become known for its high performance. They are among the most popular GPUs available at the moment, with GPUs en masse having become a hot commodity due to the recent boom in the gaming industry.

The GeForce RTX 30 series of graphics cards has kept Nvidia very busy lately with the struggle of keeping up with demand. While this new line of graphics cards has been very well received they have been incredibly hard to obtain. The problem has only been made worse with the increasing number of people building gaming PCs during a pandemic that has also made it harder for Nvidia to produce products at their full capability.

Despite the supply struggle, Nvidia is only making Geforce RTX 30 series more desirable thanks to its latest endeavor in resizable BAR support. The feature has been made available now for those using a GeForce RTX 3060 desktop graphics card or a GeForce RTX 30 series laptop. However, those who have any of the other 30 series cards won't have to wait long to also receive the update as it is set to arrive later this March.

Resizable BAR Creates Optimized Performance

So what exactly makes this new resizable BAR feature so great? Well, with the growing size of assets used in modern games it has become quite the task for the GPU to manage the constant transfer of data from the CPU. Generally while exploring the vast open worlds of modern games the GPU would be in a constant race to decipher small data packets from the CPU in order to create the textures, colors, and shapes to be displayed on the screen. These data transfers may be constant, but they still have to queue in order to be processed by the GPU. This is why you can sometimes experience texture pop in during gameplay, when blurry graphics suddenly become very sharp.

Resizable BAR fixes this by allowing assets to be sent to the GPU in full as needed helping the CPU. Also if multiple transfers need to occur instead of queuing up one after the other resizable BAR allows the transfers to occur concurrently meaning that the data can be accessed even faster. This feature can be extremely beneficial in certain games providing a smoother better-looking experience. However, in some cases, it can cause games to run slower, which is why you should toggle the feature on and off depending on the title being played.
