Sabir Pirzada, who is one of the writers for Moon Knight, is eying his next Marvel Cinematic Universe property as he is developing a Nova project for Marvel Studios. Phase 4 has been an interesting period for the ever-growing MCU as they look to branch out their massive interconnected universe. With Disney+ as an additional platform, Marvel Studios has been able to develop multiple solo projects for heroes that have been in the franchise for years but have not been the headlining character. It has also allowed for new characters to arrive in the MCU, from heroes like Kate Bishop, Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel, and many more.

One of the Marvel heroes that fans have been demanding to see appear in the MCU for years is Richard Rider a.k.a. Nova. Through the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, the MCU has established the infamous Nova Corps for years now. However, the character that most fans associate with the Nova title is nowhere to be seen. Despite the lack of Richard's presence, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has made it clear in past interviews that Nova is definitely someone that they are interested in introducing at some point.

After a long wait, it looks like the MCU is finally getting ready to bring Richard from panel to screen. Deadline revealed that Pirzada, who has been working on the limited series, Moon Knight, as one of the head writers, is developing a Nova solo project for Marvel Studios, with Feige attached as an executive producer. What's unclear at this point is if it will be a movie or another Disney+ original series.

Nova and MCU Nova Corps in Guardians of the Galaxy

While not specified, it would not be a shock if Pirzada's Nova project ends up being part of MCU's Phase 5, given that Phase 4 is already packed with several upcoming films and shows on the current slate. However, the announcement comes at a very interesting time that may have solved a new MCU mystery that recently emerged. Through new production listings that surfaced online, Marvel Studios has an untitled space show in the works, which Marvel and Disney haven't commented on yet. It would make a lot of sense if that is actually the Nova project.

If Nova is eyed as a potential series for Disney+, it would be the first show not to be set on Earth. Given the massive success of the Star Wars shows on the Disney-branded service, it was only a matter of time before Marvel Studios went down that route, should Nova indeed become a weekly series. The bigger question, however, is if fans will meet Richard for the first time in a different MCU project before Nova. As James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will wrap up the space-themed franchise, perhaps Richard makes his MCU debut in a post-credit scene or plays a small role in the actual film. While time will tell what Nova will become, it's exciting to know that Richard is finally on his way to the franchise.
