Dylan O’Brien looks very different for his role in the upcoming Hulu movie Not Okay. O’Brien, well-known for his portrayal of Stiles Stilinski on MTV’s Teen Wolf, has recently starred in the post-apocalyptic dramedy Love and Monsters. He’s also headlined the thriller Flashback. Both films have garnered praise, with reviews singling out O’Brien’s lead performance in Love and Monsters and argued that it helped to elevate an otherwise familiar story. As for Flashback, a twisty narrative that occurs across multiple realities, it has drawn comparisons to Christopher Nolan’s time-focused sagas.

It was recently reported that O’Brien was among a number of actors to sign on for Not Okay. Described as a comedy satire, the movie stars Zoey Deutch as a misguided young woman who's desperate for fame and friends. Deutch’s character ends up faking a trip to Paris in an effort to improve her social media presence, but a terrifying incident occurs in the real world and becomes a part of her fake trip. Mia Isaac, Embeth Davidtz, Nadia Alexander, Tia Dionne Hodge, Negin Farsad, Karan Soni, and Dash Perry round out the cast of Not Okay. It’ll be written and directed by Quinn Shephard, who helmed the 2017 drama Blame.

The video quickly went viral on Twitter, becoming a trending topic on social media. The reaction has been largely positive, with many admitting their surprise at how well the actor pulls off the new hair and the tattoos. But others admitted to preferring the darker locks that O’Brien sported in Teen Wolf and The Maze Runner. Regardless of the specifics of the response, it’s good news for Not Okay as a whole. The news has added to the project’s visibility, increasing the likelihood that audiences will check it out when it premieres on Hulu. There will be some interest, as well, in seeing how Colin differs in personality from the rest of O’Brien’s protagonists.

In addition to his part in Not Okay, O’Brien is set to star in The Outfit, a crime drama that co-stars Oscar winner Mark Rylance. O’Brien will also be a part of Maximum Truth, a comedy that follows a political grifter as he tries to take down a rival candidate. After breaking out and turning heads with his portrayal of Stiles, O’Brien spoke openly about his desire to take on stories that aren’t limited to familiar blockbuster fare. From the looks of things, given the variety of projects he’s chosen, he’ll be continuing down that path.
