The Marvel Cinematic Universe is ready to bring back Ghost Rider, and there is one actor who would be perfect for the role: Norman Reedus. The Walking Dead star has been fueling rumors about his casting online, garnering a major fan response and making him trend on Twitter. While names like Keanu Reeves and Gabriel Luna — who played Ghost Rider in Agents of SHIELD — have been thrown into contention for the role, Norman Reedus would be the MCU's perfect choice to portray Ghost Rider Johnny Blaze.

The rumor that Reedus will take on Johnny Blaze erupted on Twitter recently after the star started liking dozens of tweets calling for Marvel to cast him in the role, including tweets from insiders who say Marvel has already made their choice. Reedus has wanted to play the role of Ghost Rider for years, and he hasn't been subtle — "I want a fire skull. I want my face to turn into a fire skull and whip a chain around. That would be great," Reedus told Comicbook.com earlier this year. "So, I don't know, call somebody, make that happen. I want to do it." Even The Walking Dead showrunner Angela Kang has voiced her support for Reedus entering the MCU, tweeting that Reedus playing Ghost Rider "WOULD be rad."

Norman Reedus would be the perfect choice to take on the role of Ghost Rider. Johnny Blaze, a stuntman-turned-vigilante, takes on Marvel's supernatural heroes as the Spirit of Vengeance. Reedus has a long history of playing just the right flavor of bad-boy anti-hero that would be needed to pull off Johnny Blaze — Daryl Dixon in The Walking Dead, Sam Porter Bridges in Death Stranding, Murphy MacManus in The Boondock Saints — making him more than qualified to pull off the role. Ghost Rider is one of the MCU's darker, grittier characters, and Reedus' edge would be the perfect addition to the character. And, to make matters even better, he's even offered to supply the Hell Cycle.

On top of his history of playing the gruff anti-hero, Reedus also has an extreme passion for motorcycles; something he and Ghost Rider have in common. Reedus frequently rides motorcycles in The Walking Dead — his current bike is a KTM 525 EXC — in true apocalyptic-bad-boy fashion. His enthusiasm spilled over into his own motorcycle-based travel show, Ride with Norman Reedus, where the star travels the world and explores biker culture with his friends and co-stars. The motorcycle is a major part of Ghost Rider's gig, so casting a star with such a passion for them only makes sense for Ghost Rider's grand MCU entrance, and we might get to see Reedus pull off some of his own stunts.

Currently, there is no official news regarding Ghost Rider's return or casting. There are rumors that Ghost Rider will appear in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and while the claims haven't been substantiated, it's not outside the realm of possibility. Until the announcement is made, it seems that fans — and Norman Reedus himself — can only dream.
